*click this pic to visit the "20 Best Drugstore Buys" article*

Hey Everyone! Chances are you've checked out the webiste www.totalbeauty.com ... It's a nice site to check out reviews, articles, videos, etc. I was looking at it yesterday and came across an article about the "20 Best Drugstore Buys" - based on reviews on the site. I was VERY intrigued by this, and actually ran across a lot of items I had never tried-also some that I have tried- and others that I don't like! Please share your own feedback with me on the different items on the Total Beauty best drugstore buys list!

♥ TRIED AND LOVED ♥

*Maybelline Full & Soft Mascara
This was in my collection for quite awhile and then I ran out. Reading this article sort of makes me want to pick it up again because it truly is a GREAT drugstore mascara!

*Jane LipKick lipstick
I have a shade of this in Superstar- it's a red shade with a bit of a pink tone. It is VERY richly pigmented and it sounds like other shades are as well.

*St. Ives Whipped Silk Intense Body Moisturizer
This is another product I had quite awhile ago and I remember really liking the scent and the texture. Next time I'm in need of some new lotion- this might be a good one to re-buy!

*Pantene Classic Touchable Hairspray Flexible Hold, Non-aerosol
This isn't a bad hairspray. Once again- something I used to use but don't currently own. Is that a bad sign? Perhaps the product isn't all that great if I didn't run out to buy more. Actually I think my mom uses this or something similar from Pantene and likes it. I'm sort of indifferent about it, but I don't hate it, so I put it in this category :)

*Revlon Colorstay Makeup with Softflex
Currently own and love this. It's by far one of my top liquid foundations. I'm tending to use my Rimmel Lasting finish more, simply since the particular shade I have really matches my skin tone well- but I also LOVE this foundation. I'd recommend it for sure.

*Dove Sensitive Skin Unscented Bar
I went ahead and stuck this under this category- because I use the regular Dove bar- not this sensitive one but oh well. I use it in the mornings when I wake up- I feel like it's really gentle and since I'm not taking off any makeup, simply cleansing my skin BEFORE makeup application- it works really well. Makes my skin feel soft :)

*Wet & Wild Ultimate Expressions Eyeshadow Palette
This stuff is great quality. I recommended it to a friend I used to work with at the TV station... she got the shade in Sand Castle (neutral browns) and she loved it too. I've heard great things about this on other sites like Makeup Alley and Makeuptalk.com

DON'T LIKE!
*Max Factor Maxalicious Lip Glaze
These come in "naughty" and "nice" shades... I believe the shade I got was a naughty shade (don't remember the specific color, I threw it out) and it couldn't have been more mild and natural. I was looking for some color! It was supposed to be a pretty berry shade! whatev. Plus I hadn't had the gloss for long at all and the color started to separate... nasty.

  2. Maybelline Full & Soft has been my go to, everday mascara for a couple of years now. Although, I still try others, I always have this around. Another good drugstore mascara is L'oreal Voluminous (the black is much more deeper than F&S).
Burts Bees products are nice as well. I suggest the cuticle treatment and their version of chapstick. Have a great rest of the week!

  3. I just purchased the Revlon Colorstay foundation but haven't tried it yet. I have heard so many good reviews about it! The Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser I just recently purchased and love! I use it in the mornings because I find it doesn't take my makeup off very well at night. I'm deffinately going to try out some of the other things suggested! :)

  5. Hi Emily. I have been following your blog quite regularly, especially after watching your videos on youtube. Anyway, I just felt like leaving you a comment because well... I don't know :) I thought this post was somehow interesting even though I've seen it many times on totalbeauty.com.

I absolutely adore Cetaphil. It's the most gentle and non-drying cleanser there is in the market. This has been my cleanser since I was in high school and I have never looked back nor thought of switching to a new cleanser (I've tried a handful, but I still come back to Cetaphil at the end of the day). However, because it is quite too mild and gentle to remove all my make up, I just follow it with my emu oil soap (you gotta try these emu goodies. you'll get hooked). What I'm trying to say, if you've got uberly sensitive skin (like I do), Cetaphil is the best for you.

  6. Emily,

I have a couple of questions for you......

    1) how often do you go through your make-up and PURGE?

    2) what do you do with products you don't like?

    3) how do you "rotate" your make-up so that it doesn't go bad or get full of bacteria?

    Thanks,

    Mina

  7. I used to used the Maybeline Full & Soft Mascara and I'm thinking of picking it up again. I have always wanted to try the Revlon Color Stay foundation with soft flex but I don't know how to pick the right color. They have such a huge variety of colors I'm afraid I would have to buy more than a few just to find the right color. Do you think you could to a video on how to find the right color foundation? That would be very helpful. Thanks!

  9. The Cetaphil Gentle cleanser is what I am using now. It is the best kind of cleanser if u have dry skin in the winter. It doesnt feel like its doing its job, but after cleaning my face, i noticed all of my waterproof eyeliner gone! So, it is awesome =) 5/5 stars
