BOGO Warning!

Hey guys!

Just wanted to give you a heads up on Buy-one-get-one-free sales- primarily at drugstores like Walgreens. Of course you see the tags all over saying BOGO or BOGO half off and that sort of thing. So you pick up not one item, but TWO- and you're so excited about it! Well... I was really excited about my BOGO this past weekend, until I had gotten into my car and down the road-- then looked at my receipt and realized the posted BOGO sale didn't really go through!

This has happened to me once in the past and I should've learned my lesson. When these types of sales are going on, for some reason- the sale doesn't always automatically go through when the cahsier scans the item. USUALLY it does, but every now and then, it doesn't. So pay close attention when you're checking out. Sometimes it just helps to make sure with the cashier that you are indeed getting the BOGO deal, or maybe have an advertisement handy so you can point out that you SHOULD be getting the deal.

I just wanted to let you guys know about this since it really sucks when you're already home and you check the receipt, only to realize you didn't get the discount that was advertised. Has that ever happened to you?

Thanks so much for stopping by the blog!

Emily

  2. that has happened to me before... i got a bunch of stuff at CVS that was 50% or more off (so that means everything was like 1 or 2 dollars) but on the receipt i got a lot of the items for different prices than they should have been.. of course i noticed after the fact, as you did (it always seems to happen that way) and i didnt want to go back because its not THAT big of a deal.. its just annoying to think you are getting something for one price and then the next thing you know you get it for something else

  3. This happens to me mostly at Walgreens! You definitely have to watch while checking out!!! :)

  4. This has happened to me so many times at Walgreens and CVS. I agree with taking the sales ad to the register, I also recommend taking the clerk to the sign itself. So funny, I just ranted about this on my website a couple days ago (www.madisonrent.net). I am so glad to see someone else out there is sharing my sales frustration.

  5. I've never had this happen with makeup but at American Eagle there was a BOGO half off on jewelry so I got 2 necklaces and got home only to see that I was charged full price for both. Not happy since AE jewelry is pretty expensive for teen/college student audiences.

  6. Ugh yeah I hate that
I bought a lipgloss on clearance for ~$1.79 (that's what it said anyway) and I was kind of out of it that day, and when I went home I found that I got it for retail =|

  7. I always do double check! CVS just had one and the guy there forgot to give me 1/2 off!

  8. Sometimes the drugstores put up the BOGO sale signs before the actual sale (you have to look at the fine print and make sure the date of sales is correct). They are tricky!

  9. one suggestion I have is to add up what you think you should be spending in your head, just round it to the nearest dollar. Then when you get to the register, you will notice if it is off, so you can ask the cashier to check for you!

Also, dont ever worry about going back to the store and telling them that you didnt get your discount!

I have done this at CVS before, and they fixed it for me!

Also, I work at ULTA and this happens on occasion, but we honor it if you bring in your recipt and we see you were charged wrong or didnt get your free item! :)

  10. I JUST did that! I went to Walgreens and got 2 of the Rimmel eyeshadow palettes that were B1G1 free, and they charged me for both, and on top of that, one was a price that was $2 higher than the other even though they were the same palette in different colors. Thankfully I noticed it as I was walking back to the car, and was able to have it taken care of.

  11. Well,we never get B1G1 free on makeup here & the only products we get 50% off on is NYX.What the sales girls do is that they give us a seperate box to pot the 'offer' makeup items into so that the cashiers will note down the correct amount with discount.

  12. That has happened to me too, so annoying. What I also don't like is, our Walgreens for example takes the sale signs down on saturdays because new sales come out on sundays, so if you go on a saturday and don't see the signs, you might miss out on a BOGO, which has happened to me as well. What I do now is, I check the weekly adds on sundays (online), so I know exactly what deals they have for the week and I know exactly what brands have a BOGO.

  13. This happened to me at Walgreens the other day! The cashier told me my total and I swiped my card. Then I realized the total was WAY to much so I asked the cashier why I didn't get the deal. Their cash registers apparently weren't set up for the sale even though it had already been going on for 5 days... I did end up getting my BOGO though. Glad I caught it before it was too late.

  14. This happened to me a few weeks ago at Walgreens! They had the Wet n' Wild BOGO free and when I went to check out I guess it wasn't ringing up that way and I had no idea, but luckily another cashier came over to check and she had to void everything and ring it up again! Good thing she came over or I would have not known!

(I'm Alicia btw, the one who was talking to you in your live chat today :) Just wanted to throw that in, ahaha!)

  15. Walgreens is the worst when it comes to that and many of the sales people know it. I always make sure to ask after everything is rung up if the BOGO went through. They say Milani is the worst offender of this. Thanks for the tip! :) Love your blog and videos, Emily :)

  16. We have a place out here (Heb, as we luv to call it:) and i always watch as closely as possible to try to ensure i'm getting the Discounted Sales price.. And when at Walgreen's i usually try to buy fewer items say (only 2-5) that way i'm completely aware of what the final price should be (i add it up in my head tho' sometimes for fun, im OCD and Geeky that way..lol)
I've had occasion to return SO often that unless i don't care about the blatant overcharge i keep extra close tabs on that stuff :)

..Just to ensure there won't be an extra trip involved. Who has time for that these days?

  17. I'll NEVER buy Black Tied as long as Jane is making "Clubbing," #11 single eyeshadow. It's richly pigmented with the same smooth texture and silvery glitter. (And since it's the same size, you can depot it and put it right next to your Mac shadows if you want.)
