Luscious Blushes

Get it? Luscious Blushes... fun to say! But these are so much fun to WEAR! I received some new products in the mail recently from the folks at Bee Luscious... and these blushes take the cake! To be clear, these are referred to as Baked Mineralized Finishing Powder on the Bee Luscious website... but for the shades that I've tried, one is without a doubt a blush, and the other is more of a blush/highlight. You wouldn't want to dust these all over your face to finish the look- because they contain so much pigmentation, and in some cases, sparkle. However I think they're fantastic as a blush. And blush is such a great way to spruce up your look, and really add radiance to your face quickly & easily.

I know... they're stunning. The one on the left is called Apricot Swirl. In the picture below, I used this as a highlight on top of my cheekbones. It's a gorgeous golden peach... reminds me of MAC's Rubenesque paint pot in powder form. This one has soft shimmer, but no actual particles of glitter. I think it's just as lovely on as it looks in the packaging. (Plus these come packaged with nice mirrors!)

Berry Swirl is my must-have of the two. It's rare to find a gorgeous, luminous blush in a pretty berry shade. It's a gorgeous deep rose-berry shade laced with gold that gives the blush a subtle sparkle (there are tiny glitter-like flecks in this, but as you can see in the picture, it's nothing obvious). I applied this to the outer apple of my cheek (not in close to my nose so I don't appear to have redness there), and while it works on my medium skintone, I think deep skintones would look lovely with this, and even applied sparingly on light skin- it would really be nice. You barely have to tap your brush into the product- it's that pigmented.

I like using Berry Swirl as the blush and Apricot Swirl as the highlight because they both have a golden undertone that makes the two look flawless together. I know I often say- don't incorporate too much shimmer if you don't want pores and fine lines to stand out. But if you have a little shimmer in your blush (on top of a matte foundation & powder), you will really look fresh. What better way to start off Spring? Now the price tag on the Bee Luscious website for these is rather high- $39.95 each. But keep in mind- there's a 35% discount on all orders, which really makes the product more doable. Thanks so much for stopping by my blog, and have a wonderful day!

Get Pretty Lips with Rimmel Vinyl Bronze

Hey everyone! How's it going today? I'm really glad it's almost Friday, that's for sure. So who out there has tried Rimmel Vinyl Gloss? It's actually a really good product. I like the way it feels on the lips, and the colors (Snog was my go-to lip gloss Senior year of college)... but I think Vinyl gloss fell victim to my need to continually try new products. Has that ever happened to you? You find something that's a pretty great product, but you just kind of fall into new things and before you know it, you're barely using that great gloss anymore... well, Vinyl Gloss is back for me in a BIG way! A total "rediscovered" product as I like to say.

(top to bottom: Golden Goddess, Bronze Ambition, Summer Nude)

Here's what happened... I was in Wal-Mart and waaaayyyy down at the bottom of the Rimmel display, I noticed some new packaging on the lip gloss. They had bronze lids, and came in 3 gorgeous light shades. It seemed like something that would normally be out in a special display, but they were sort of hidden. Buying these was a no-brainer. I knew I liked Vinyl Gloss, the price was cheap, and the colors looked gorgeous. I got them home and started trying them and was totally pleased. Memories of why I love this gloss formula came flooding back to me... nice scent, not too sticky but just sticky enough texture... but the shades were unlike any I've tried from Rimmel. All of them somewhat light with a very subtle shimmer... but they each added their own unique hue to the lips.

(left to right: Golden Goddess, Bronze Ambition, Summer Nude)

I feel like these colors really perk up the skin just to put them on. They're nice choices as we head into spring and you want to try some new light glosses. I felt the need to show you pictures of each shade on the lips... so here you go! :)

Golden Goddess: Sheer, shimmery gold tint. Perfect to throw on just to give a little extra shine to the lips. A nice light shade that actually perks up your skin with the gold undertones, rather than sucking the life out of your skin like some light shades. Worn alone, this will give a sheer wash of gold to the lips. However- in the picture above, I put a bit of concealer on my lips to really neutralize the natural pigmentation- and to show how this could be worn like a nude lip. Throw on a smokey eye? Perfect!

Bronze Ambition: This has got to be the ideal lip gloss to wear with a tan. If you're not all that comfortable with wearing a really light shade on your lips, but you want something a little less intense for Spring- this is a great pick. It makes the lips look beautifully bronze, but you still get the pretty golden undertone. (The camera really picked up on the gold shimmer in this picture).

Summer Nude: This one might just barely edge out the other two as my favorite. But BARELY. It's so so pretty. A gorgeous soft mauve-pink that I think would look awesome on any skin tone. I really like wearing this on top of any lipstick as well- from a reddish lipstick to a pink or plum tone. The shine is gorgeous (as it is with all the colors) and I'm pretty much in love with this. I would definitely advise you to snatch it up! And the other two as well! :)

My Sister's Website!

Hi Everyone! If you've been a frequent visitor to my YouTube channel and my blog, perhaps you've met my sister Kelly, a.k.a. "Pup"! She's one of the biggest influences in my life, and an all-around awesome person! She teaches high school art, and also creates some of the most incredible artwork I've seen. In the past I've posted links to her blog, in which she describes her paintings, pets, culinary creations, and just life in general. But Pup has just launched an amazing website that highlights her artwork. Since so many of you have shown an interest in Pup and what she does, I thought you might like to check it out! The site is http://www.kellyeddington.com. Bookmark it!

Vlog Series: Em's World!

Hey everyone! Over time I've gotten some requests to create a second Beauty Broadcast channel for vlog videos... a.k.a.... just videos about what's going on in my life, no necessarily makeup-related. I put some serious thought into doing a second channel, but I decided the easiest thing for everyone would be to just occasionally upload videos of that type on my current channel... but title them "Em's World" so you know it's a vlog. To some who really only care about the makeup info I provide- consider this your warning! :) You don't have to watch those videos if you don't want to. However my first video got a great response from viewers, so if you are also interested in my day-to-day happenings, this might be right up your alley! Here's a look at my first video in my vlog series, in case you missed it....

I'm not quite sure how often I'll post these vlog videos... but I hope to make them on a
regular basis! Here are some of the things I was thinking about including in them... please let
me know if there's anything else you'd like to see!
  • Shopping & random hauls
  • Behind the scenes at my job at the TV station
  • Work-out stuff I do
  • Hanging out with Tyler, family, & friends
  • Cooking
  • Mom on Speakerphone (big plans for this one :)
  • Random trips
Yay for a new series! I hope you enjoy watching these videos as much as I'll enjoy making them!
Have a great day!
