Seasonal Shower Gels

Hi everyone! I'm so excited I've kept up with my Non-Stop November blog posts so far! :) I get most of my best ideas when I'm in the shower (why that is, I don't know), but that's where the idea for this blog post comes from. I'm a big fan of shower products, and while there are tons of great scents, some brands put out some special, seasonal scents now and then.

To prevent the need for a storage container within the shower (can you imagine?!), I took some of my more fruity & tropical scented body washes out, and replaced them with a couple of my favorite Christmas scents from last year. I plan to keep this kind of rotation going, because I can't get through a whole shower gel in a season, and it seems new again when I make the switch! Here are a few of the special shower gels I'm using for the season...

  • Philosophy Candy Cane... I got this for Christmas last year. It smells exactly the way you think it would... smooth, strong peppermint. Probably the mintiest mint-scented thing I've smelled with the exception of Altoids. It has a little sweetness to it too, and it's just a really invigorating body wash. Use it in the morning to perk yourself up, or if you have a cold like me, take a whiff and clear your sinuses!
  • Philosophy Snow Angel... This is a new body wash for me- it came in the most recent QVC Beauty Test Tube (if you can't find those on the QVC website right now- they're out of stock. I'll let you know if I see them again). Over the years I've tried a variety of yummy Philosophy body washes, and this doesn't rank high in terms of being unique, but it is something a the dude in your life could use and still feel very dude-like. It's very fresh, clean, and crisp... kind of like a breath of fresh air. Really clean, but definitely seems like a unisex scent to me.
  • Softsoap Holiday Cookie... This is another shower gel I found last year... not sure if this same scent will be available this year, or if Softsoap will put out new scents. This is described as a combination of vanilla, brown sugar, and a hint of ginger. It's just a really yummy scent. I'm a sucker for products that smell like baked goods.
Question: What shower gels do you love to use during the fall/winter months?

Daily Nuggets...
  • I enjoyed making a Paula Deen reference in my Revlon Lip Butter video. It took me 2 afternoons to edit, but I'm so happy with the way it turned out. It was worth the extra time.
  • Tyler made sweet potato fries. He makes THE BEST sweet potato fries!
  • Still dealing with that pesky cold, but I think it's improving.
  • Episodes of Seinfeld never get old for me.
  • There's a Disney event happening tomorrow in my area, so today I got to do a segment on the morning show with Cinderella, Snow White, and a dwarf :)
  • Tomorrow is Friday!

  3. My birthday was just in October and I am loving the "Happy Birthday" Philosophy body wash gift I got from Sephora as a Beauty Insider. It smells like vanilla birthday cake (that's what it's supposed to smell like, according to the bottle) and I love it! I'm running out though, so I'm going to try some new holiday themed body washes soon! Thanks for the post, gave me some great ideas :)

  5. Last year Suave had an awesome dupe for Philosophy's Candy Cane...not quite as tingly on your skin, but for the price difference I can handle it. They had other holiday scents, too, but I only got the peppermint.

  8. love rotating scents too! =D I just finished a dark kiss shower gel from B&BW. I just put in a brown sugar and fig body wash from B&BW and will be using that for a few weeks before I get out vanilla bean noel in December. I go through a lot of body wash. I use it as well as my two kiddos. =D

  9. I am obsessed with autumn/holiday scents; I use them all year round! I have a cabinet in my bathroom dedicated to lotion, body wash and body spray! My favorite scents are Vanilla, Pumpkin Spice, Cinnamon, Gingerbread, and basically anything that smells warm and yummy! One uniquely scented lotion that I have came from Bath and Body Works a couple years ago. It smells like pistascheos and it's amazing. I'll be sad when it runs out. Here's the bottom line: I love to smell like a cupcake, but the funny thing is... I don't have a sweet tooth! Weird, right?

  15. I have the Snow Angel one as well. It smells really good. I need to put it my shower. Gonna see if that Softsoap one is out. I love anything with vanilla in it :) I need more shower gels like I need another hole in my head. Right now I'm loving Sugared Violets by Carols Daughter. Right now it's only available at HSN. I usually purchase the holiday hand soaps from Bath & Body works. I need to go stock up now :)

  17. Caress Exfoliating Body Wash in Burnt Brown Sugar smells just like the holidays. I used it for the first time when I was house-sitting for a friend of mine, and it smelled just like all of the wonderful things you think of during the holidays.. I almost took it home with me when she got back from her vacation. ;)

  21. Hi Emely,
I guess lot of people get great ideas while takin a shower. I´m one of them, too!
Great lip-butter-video. unfortunately Revlon-products are not easy to get in germany.
For shower gels im very disciplined. I´ve only one and one in stock. In make-up it´s complitly different.
But I think I´ve to look for winter-shower-gels the next days, after reading your blogpost.
Hope you feel better the weekend.
    Greating from Germany!

  24. Emily - I saw Softsoap Wintermint body wash at a walmart this past weekend. It smells great - not quite as awesome as BBW's twisted peppermint, but for the price difference it's a super close dupe. They had another holiday scent - something to do with chocolate that I wasn't a fan of.

  25. I found Dial Holiday Vanilla Winter Radiance at Walmart this week.Smells like Christmas cookies. Love it!

  26. Not sure if it smells quite like the Too Faced™ Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzing Powder, but I got Softsoap® Molten Chocolate body wash at Walmart last night. O. MY. WORD. Amazing aroma!! Smells good enough to eat (but I wouldn't), yet doesn't make you so hungry for chocolate that you go on a chocolate-hunting rampage. (Well, I didn't.) Haven't tried it in the shower yet. Hmm... wonder what body spray one would wear on top of it, after getting out of the shower??

Also bought Olay Ultra Moisture Vanilla Winter Retreat. Smells like a vanilla mint cookie. Nom nom nom!
