My ALL ELF Face of the Day!

Hey everyone! Happy first day of Spring! Hope the weather is nice where you are. Today I was getting ready, and I put on a couple of face products, and they both happened to be from ELF. Once I realized that, I thought- I should use ONLY ELF products on my face today! There are a few reasons why... I mean, I have a lot of ELF makeup, and the brand has really expanded over time to offer so many different products. The fact that it's available at Target has caused me to pick up lots of different items to try! I don't think everything in the brand is perfect (I've yet to find a brand where I love absolutely EVERYTHING), but to those who think makeup has to be high-end in order for it to look good... I must say, you can save a lot of money and still look great wearing ELF stuff! :) Keep in mind, I'm currently reviewing some of the products I used today, so this is not necessarily one big list of recommendations. I've marked products that I plan to review as "under review". Also- this blog is not sponsored by ELF... I purchased everything myself. ELF products are available at Target or eyeslipsface.com.

Face Products...

• I first smoothed on my Tinted Moisturizer all over my face (under review)
• Using a couple of different shades, I used the concealer on my under-eye area (under review)
• I lightly dusted the Translucent Mattifying powder under my eyes to set my concealer, and also around my T-Zone
• At the very end of my makeup routine, I used the HD powder and then the Mist & Set (under review).

• I swirled a large powder brush in the warm bronzer to combine all the shades and dusted that all over my face.
• With my fingers, I blended the cream blush into the apples of my cheeks (under review).
• To enhance the staying power, I dusted a coordinating powder blush on top of the cream blush.
• The Healthy Glow bronzer has some shimmer- I often like to use this to warm up my neck/collarbone area.
  

Eyes & Lips

• I smoothed the mineral eyeshadow primer all over my lids
• From the eyeshadow palette, I used a light pink on the inner part of my lids and under my brow. I used a deeper rosy pink on the outer part of the lid, and blended it up into the crease, along with just a hint of purple.
• I used the navy blue cream liner (under review) on my upper lashline, and the outer part of my lower lashline. I lightly applied some navy shadow over the top.
• The one ELF product I don't have right now is MASCARA! :( So I had to use another brand for that.
• On my lips, I used the rosy colored Moisture-Care lip color... lightly blotting the shimmery light pink shadow on top for some added glow.

Look Like You've Had Beauty Sleep

Hey everyone! How'd the whole "spring forward" thing work for those of you who had to change your clocks? The change is so obvious to me, because I have to go to bed in the evening hours for my job, so the longer it stays light, the more strange it seems to be going to bed! So as I adjust the time change, I'm probably going to lose a little sleep. Even if you're not in an area where Daylight Savings Time applies, I think you'll find these tips useful for days when you need a little pick-me-up... something to make you look more awake! Feel free to post your own ideas in the comments section! :)

Fashion & Hair...

• Opt for light or bright colors. I find it can actually enhance the appearance of a person's skintone!
• If you don't want to go bright with your outfit, consider a bold necklace that adds some color near your face. Some fun earrings can have a similar effect.
• It might be a day when you'd like to hide your face, but an updo of some sort can actually give the face a more lifted appearance. Anchor it with some bobbi pins and hairspray and it'll be a style you don't have to spend time fussing with throughout the day.

Makeup...

• Concealer is a daily no-brainer for most, but there are a few tricks to maximize its effectiveness. When applying under-eye concealer, take it all the way up onto the lower lashline. Some people neglect this area, but the fact is, that's a spot where you can get a lot of redness & discoloration. Even out the area, and set with a light dusting of sheer powder.
• Go easy on the eyes... A lot of heavy contouring may give you a sexy look, but it doesn't necessarily make you look well-rested. Use a lighter contour shade, and use your darker colors on the outer corner for a little lift. Use liner on the upper lashline along with mascara, and keep liner smudged and soft if you want it on the lower lashline.
• A white or light colored liner in the waterline will make the eyes look more wide open. I've learned that lining the waterilne with black can brighten the whites of your eyes, but if you're really looking tired, I think a light liner can do the most in terms of making you look wide awake.
• Blush is another daily must-have, but definitely don't skip it on a day you're feeling tired. Peach and pink shades seem to really give a look of health when applied to the apples of your cheeks.
• Brighten up the lips on tired days! If you still don't feel like you're getting anywhere where the eyes are concerned, putting more of a focus on the lips with a pretty pink, coral, or red can work wonders. These shades don't have to be neon to get the job done. Once I add a lip product that provides some color, I feel like my whole face looks brighter.

Hopefully these words of advice can help you when you haven't gotten as much beauty sleep as you'd like. I also want to make sure you're aware- I'm not saying people should skip out on sleep. It's important to your overall health, and catching enough Z's can keep you from working so hard where makeup is concerned! So by all means, try to get a full 8 hours, or whatever you feel your body needs. But for those times when you just don't look rested, these tips should help you out. Island Mirage Eyes!

Hey everyone! Many people have asked for a spring-inspired eye makeup look, and I've come up with something I hope you'll love! It involves tones of bronze, orange, and pink! :) Hope you like my Island Mirage eye tutorial! :)

Special tips for achieving this look:

• Use larger crease brushes to get a soft & seamless blend with these warm tones
• Using a dark liner on the waterline keeps the whites of the eyes looking white, which sometimes warm colors like orange & pink can detract from.
• To soften your liner, create a somewhat wide line with powder first, then top with liquid very close to the lash line. For more on this technique, visit Alba's channel- she has some great ideas.
• Keep lips nude or neutral so they don't clash with the eyes :)

Hi everyone! Thanks for stopping by my blog! :) I've been really busy this week making videos, and loving every minute of it. Thanks to Ashley on the Beauty Broadcast Facebook page for requesting the Review-a-thon... I was happy to do that again & it was a lot of fun! In this blog, I just wanted to give a shout out to a couple of people for their out-of-the-blue, super kind gifts. I'm not posting this to say, "hey, send me stuff!!" -because that's not what I'm looking for. These items showed up at the TV station where I work, and it was a sweet surprise. Some people have asked me to set up a P.O. Box, but to me that seems kind of self-indulgent, and if you're feeling generous, I'd encourage you to support a charitable organization to help those in need.

I would still love to give thanks to those who took the time to share their love for Beauty Broadcast with me. It's an absolute joy to know others share my passion, and it's been amazing to hear your stories through email, facebook, twitter, and regular mail too.

Brandy sent me a lovely, thoughtful gift- and I really wanted to share it with you because I thought you'd enjoy her interpretations of a couple of my tutorials! :) Along with some photos and a list of the products she used, she sent an adorable cat card, a cat toy for Cupcake, and a Too Faced Chocolate Soleil bronzer! I also recently received a lovely note from someone... I'm not sure who! It was anonymous, but the postmark said California. In this very sweet note, this person told me they've seen most of my videos and blogs, and they thanked me for them. This viewer referred to herself as one of the long-term unemployed. She said one day while she was clipping coupons, she noticed these beauty-related deals and thought they might be something I could use. I found this to be incredibly thoughtful, selfless, and kind. Thank you so very much, and I would love to find out who you are! :)

Bottom line... there are some truly sweet people in this world, and I am so grateful that many of them have stumbled upon Beauty Broadcast. Your viewership and support has strengthened our online community in ways you or I may never know. Yes, we have probably all learned a thing or two about makeup, but so many friendships have formed along the way, and so much kindness has been shared... not just to me, but from viewer to viewer. • Cupcake has decided to make it really hard for me to get out of bed in the morning. When my alarm first goes off and I hit snooze, she comes up right by my face and starts purring loudly. It's a nice 5 minutes :)
