My Top 5 NYX Mega Shine Glosses!
There are a few reasons why I love this particular line of glosses... the texture is really nice. It doesn't feel sticky to me at all, yet it's just thick enough to not slide right off your lips. The color selection is awesome, and you can expect to really SEE color on your lips. I've tried maybe a dozen of these glosses, and only ONE is what I'd classify as being "sheer". Everything else is quite opaque and will really lay down some good color on the lips. They also seem to even out the texture of my lips nicely, and the shine? You bet!
So here are my favorites... just listed from lightest to darkest as they appear from top to bottom above. (There are still others I like, but if I had to pick a top 5, here they are!)
These glosses have a typical doe-foot applicator. My only complaint is that you have to be a little careful as you insert the applicator back into the tube. The opening is kind of narrow, and if you're not careful, you can end up with product coming out and getting around the portion to the tube where you screw on the cap. Hasn't been a big issue for me, but just something I wanted to mention.
- Beige Pearl... a light, shimmery-metallic gloss. Reminds me a bit of one of my favorite Revlon Super Lustrous Glosses, Foiled. I often use this for a pop of brightness in the center of the lower lip. But for a nude lip that really glows, use it all over!
- Sweet Heart... This shade is probably best described as pearly peach. You don't see big flecks of glitter, but just a smooth pearly finish. More opaque than Beige Pearl.
- Cosmo... Goodness! Don't get me started on Cosmo. This is a total face brightener. It's hard to call it "neutral" with all the gorgeous shimmer & shine, but it really is a rosy neutral that I can see working on many skin tones. I used to be obsessed with Jordana Pretty Shine Gloss in Lovely... then it was discontinued, but this is pretty darn close.
- Beige... Yes, you read that correctly. This fresh, creamy pink was named "Beige". I don't understand it, but whatever the name, I love this pink. No shimmer, no pearl, just pink perfection in lip gloss form. Definitely a go-to pink gloss!
- Copper Penny... I think of this one as a metallic raspberry. You know I love my berries! It comes off on the lips pretty much exactly how you'd expect from looking at the packaging. I know the name is a little misleading, but this is a super-wearable berry!
Beige Pearl, Sweet Heart, Cosmo, Beige, Copper Penny
Thank you so much for taking the time to check out this blog, and thanks to Ashley for requesting it! Hope everyone is having a great week! :)
- Time is flying this year... can't believe I already posted my Valentine's Day tutorial!
- I've started watching "The Voice" this year! Getting caught up on last night's show as I write this blog :) I love the concept!
- Guess I never really noticed before- Blake Shelton has quite a nice head of hair!
- Cupcake has been a magnet for bathroom towels lately. If she finds one, you can bet she'll be napping on it!
- If you keep up with me on Twitter, you know I've been candy-free for more than a month now. Seems to get easier the longer I keep it up! I'm now more satisfied with having a piece of fruit for my sweetness.

These look amazing I really want to try NYX they are so cheap wish we had them in the UK :D x
ReplyDeleteLove these lip glosses! I think Cosmo is going on the Ulta shopping list!
ReplyDeleteLove the voice, and yes, Blake has a great head of hair !
ReplyDelete"Beige" is my absolute fav NYX lipgloss, and I have Sweetheart as well. Sorry to hear "Lovely" from Jordana was discontinued! I guess I'll have to use mine sparingly now. :( I think I'll have to check out Cosmo! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThank you for this thorough review! I have a quick question: does NYX Mega Shine Gloss wear for a while, or does it disappear kind of quickly (like many glosses do!)?
ReplyDeleteI have Beige and Copper Penny and I'm super pleased with them! I'm planning an order on Perfect Red and Smokey Look soon. Gosh, I hope these won't be the only glosses I use at all :D
ReplyDeleteThese look gorgeous! I think I may have to pick up Cosmo on my next shopping trip. :)

Thanks for taking my recommendation, Emily! The only one of those I have is Beige, and the other four look sooo beautiful, I think I'll get all of them with my next CherryCulture order. :D
ReplyDeleteBeige and sweetheart are in my top five too!
ReplyDeleteThis reminded me that I need to show my NYX glosses some love :)
ReplyDeleteThis makes me motivated to use my NYX glosses more! I scratched my head too when I bought my Beige lip gloss. That Copper Penny looks really pretty...I might have to get it. xP
ReplyDeleteI love NYX Mega Shine glosses. I have them in "Natural" and "Sweet Heart".. I love both of these shades, and I will be picking up Copper Penny and Beige next time I visit Ulta. Love the review!
ReplyDeleteI have to add Copper Penny to my collection!
ReplyDeletethanks for the heads up. and well now i have bought almost 200$ of make-up :) mostly lip and cheek product.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is "Natural."
ReplyDeleteI ordered and received my first NYX Mega Shine Gloss in Beige after your recommendation of it being a nice pink. You couldn't have been more right about it! I adore it! I love your blog, YT channel and your style...thanks!

I want to try Sweetheart. I got Cosmo on your recommendation and it looks awesome paired with Revlon's Lip Butter in Pink Truffle!
ReplyDeleteWhat a coincidence, I just did a review on NYX mega shine lipglosses on my blog. I have 7 shades, but sweethart is my least favorite - it just don´t go well with my pale skin and it is a bit uneven on the lips. My favorite for every day use is Beige, but if you have fair complexion and like bright lips, try Dolly pink. :)
ReplyDeleteSo wished I could love this product since I hear NOTHING BUT GREAT! I just can't get passed the SMELL! I wish they would work on that bc for the product and the price it's AWESOME. But SMELL is of importance to me! My fave drugstore lipgloss is none other than REVLON! LOVE LOVE LOVE!
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Leslie

Hi Emily... Great post! Just wondering, which NYX Megashine gloss did you find to be sheer?
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Copper penny is sooo pretty... still don't get the name though! Do you think it would look good with ridiculously pale, pinky skin tones? aka me? :P

These look really good. I've been wanting to try out some NYX products lately but since there are only a few places that carry them it hasn't happened yet. Can you do a NYX beginners recommendations post.
ReplyDeleteYour blog is always so helpful! Now I know which NYX glosses I want to try. thanks! (love your videos too)

awesome post! being from the uk i have to buy all my NYX goodies online cos they arent stocked in any stores in belfast. it can be a bit of a nightmare trying to judge the shades cos no matter how accurate the little colour squares are its just not the same as seeing the colours swatched on someones hands or lips! xx
ReplyDeleteI love these! Beige is my fave ;)
ReplyDeleteThe nude is seriously pretty...and I was really confused about the name too. I was seeing it again and again, like "maybe she got the order wrong...??" lol but it is absolutely stunning!

Call me crazy, but in your videos, your lip color nearly always looks the same. Not so in photos, but in the videos, they all come back to the same mid-range mauve.
ReplyDeleteI've purchased some lipcolors on your advice and been REALLY disappointed because they don't look the same as they do in your videos.
I THINK the issue is your fuschia walls. Seriously. They make all of your makeup looks appear pinker and cooler than they actually are in real life. The wall color is bouncing onto your face. Even when you are telling me a color is "peachy" it is not in the video. It's pink. Then when I buy it I am really upset.
Please keep taking photos OUTDOORS in NATURAL LIGHT, as there is no other way to guess what the colors you use really look like in that sea of fuschia.
I happen to adore the idea of a pink room all to yourself where you can do all your girly things. But is may not be the best space to show other people how any makeup look would appear in the real world. I really do think the super-pink walls end up making most of your makeup looks appear similar. :( And that means your shade advice is of no help at all. :) :(
I never realized how pretty the NYX mega shine lip glosses were! I need to get some now ^ ^
ReplyDeleteIf you have the time, don't be afraid to stop by my blog :D
Yay The Voice! I've been a fan of Team Cee-Lo's Tony Vincent for yeeeeaaars. (He sang We Are the Champions.) Extremely proud of him. I hope you enjoy this as much as you enjoy American Idol.
ReplyDeleteThat you so very much for this blog.
ReplyDeleteI just ordered the Beige - can't wait to get it in!
ReplyDeleteBeige is one of my favorites too but you are right, name is off! ♥
ReplyDeleteMy absolute favorite is Smokey Look. I often use it over a lipstain, such as the Revlon Just Bitten ones (CoverGirl also has a good line of lipstains). Together, the stain and the Nyx gloss are a pretty longwearing combination.
ReplyDeleteHey Emily,, love your videos and products reviews.. I love love mega shine lip glosses matte and shimmery.. I have beige, dolly pink, la la , perfect, beautiful, sunrise, plush red, perfect red, copper penny, and natural... I'm a fan of nyx products..
