Hello everyone! My pals Katie & Ryan are out & about visiting some old friends, so I figured I'd have time to put together a quick blog on Mally's Today's Special Value on QVC... I got my hands on it early (thanks to Mally) and wanted to post a review today since the price today is $59.76 on easy pay. I got one of these kits last year and loved it because I was able to split it all up and give it as gifts-- as you can see, it comes with several gift bags & tissue! And I plan to order another today to do the same (since I've been testing all of the stuff I was sent for this review!) I think my gift recipients will be very glad I did! Especially because these are some of Mally's best products, in my opinion.
So here's how it comes... You get 3 Volumizing Mascaras, 3 High Shine Liquid Lipsticks, 3 Age Rebel Shadow Sticks, and 3 Evercolor Ultimate Waterproof Eyeliners. Everything is full-size. It's all nicely boxed up & you could just give it all to one person without splitting it up if you wanted to... but underneath the product tray are the little gift bags & tissue.
I'm a huge fan of Mally Volumizing Mascara! It even won an Emily Award in 2011. It truly builds thick lashes without making them feel heavy. The lashes continue to feel flexible even with a couple coats of this! It's a super black, rich mascara and isn't overly wet- which I think makes it very buildable. My mom loves this mascara, as does my sister and my friend Kalee!
I've raved about Mally's Evercolor Shadow sticks, and these Age Rebel Shadow Sticks are a new formulation. They seem to actually be softer than the originals, and are said to contain anti-aging ingredients. So are they as good as the original shadow sticks? They take just a bit longer to set, but once they do, you can rub back and forth on them to your heart's content and they won't come off. That's the same hardcore staying power that the other ones had, and they are in my absolute favorite format for a shadow stick-- a pencil that you don't have to sharpen! That's more control that dipping your finger in a pot of product (these make nice smudgy liners!) and you don't have to worry about busting out a sharpener. WOOP WOOP!
The colors are just as pretty & saturated as the other shadow sticks, and I love the 3 you get here: Burnished Violet, Sugar, and Jade. Burnished Violet is unlike any cream shadow product I have in my collection... it's like a plummy/bronze. Sugar is great for an inner corner highlight or just as a pearly base for any shadow look. And Jade is a pretty metallic green. These truly can be worn all alone, or you can layer on a powder shadow to achieve different looks.
Now for the eyeliners! These are the Evercolor Ultimate Waterproof version. What I've noticed with the new "ultimate" version is that they're a little bit creamier than the liners in this style that came in the green packaging. Once again, it seems the creamier the product is- you have to be just a bit more patient for it to "set" a.k.a. dry... but once it does, it has the same staying power as the other liners. These are another Emily Award winning product because staying power is SO important with eyeliner. I've put Mally's Evercolor liners to the test in the waterline against other liners & they always "win". You also don't have to sharpen these.
The shade selection here is good for anyone- Shimmering Black (just a hint of sparkle), Express-O Lane (a deep brown), and Navy (deep blue). These CAN be smudged if you want a smokey look, but just keep in mind that if you wait more than 30 seconds or so, they will set and not move. So work quickly!
The kit also comes with 3 High Shine Liquid Lipsticks! I sometimes forget and call these glosses because they have the shine of a gloss, but definitely the full-on color of a lipstick. Mally makes a lot of nice neutral shades in her line of liquid lipsticks, but these colors really pop! When you twist the bottom, the product comes out through a brush tip. The texture is creamy, and just tacky enough to stay on the lips but not uncomfortable by any means.
This pic is a little fuzzy but I think you can see the colors- Peach Sorbet is a truly opaque coral/peach color, Punch is a classic pink, and Raspberry is the perfect berry lip gloss. I LOVE raspberry! It's the only one of the three with a little bit of shimmer.
So here's the look I created with this kit! I used the Sugar shadow stick around the inner corner, and Burnished Violet all over the lid and throughout the crease. As I smudged out the violet shadow stick, I think the bronze in that color started to come out a little more. Keep in mind- once it sets, it stays. I used the Shimmering Black eyeliner on my upper lashline as well as the Volumizing mascara. I'm wearing Punch on my lips!
I was also playing with a couple of other products! I added some of the purple shade (second one down on the left) from my Sonia Kashuk Eye on Dazzling palette on my lid, and I also used that shade on my lower lashline. I buffed just a teeny bit of that shade through my crease, and it just gave such a pretty bronzy/purple effect with the shadow stick underneath. Love it! Then I used one of my blushes from the Tarte holiday 4-pack in Fantastic on the apples of my cheeks. The rest of my look is my Olay CC Cream and Revlon PhotoReady concealer.
Bottom line: This Mally kit is an amazing deal whether you want to gift it or keep it. Each product breaks down to be better than most drugstore prices ($5 apiece!) with this kit, and they are long-time favorites of mine. Even the new formulations on the shadow sticks and the liners turned out to be great! Happy gift giving!

- Cupcake is very on-edge with new people around.
- I caught a little bit of News 3 This Morning today and it looks like the new crew is doing great! Someone asked me if I'd be sad to watch and I truly don't feel that way at all. Those are my friends & I want to see things going great for them.
