FOTD: Tarte Carried Away Kit

Hello friends! When I posted my video highlighting various holiday palettes, there was a lot of interest in the Carried Away set from Tarte. So I thought I'd use it for today's makeup look!

The set comes in a great roll-up bag, and contains lip glosses, an eyeshadow palette, a brush, a blush, a finishing powder, and mascara. For a closer look at those things, check out the video I linked to above!

The eyeshadow palette has been lots of fun to play with! As you can see, there are many different looks you can create, and with the shadows divided into quads, it's easy to visualize how to use them- not that you can't mix it up and play with different colors.

I went for a dusty lavender look using mostly this quad. I went all over the lid with the shade in the upper right, and highlighted the inner corner with the light sparkly shade on the upper left. I used the deep matte purple in the outer corner, the crease, and under the eye, and blended out the border of the dark shade with the golden/lavender color on the lower left. I did a light highlight under the brow with a light pink elsewhere in the palette.

For the rest of the eyes I used Maybelline Master Drama eyeliner in Midnight Master (black) on the upper lashline and the waterline. I finished off the look with Tarte's MultiplEYE lash primer and Cover Girl Clump Crusher mascara. Then I used Maybelline Lash Discovery mascara on the lower lashes.

I absolutely LOVE the Amazonian Clay blush that's included in this kit. It's a gorgeous rose color with a little bit of shimmer called Adventurous.

I layered a couple of the Tarte Maracuja lip glosses- these shades are creamy with no shimmer. They're kind of sheer but really shiny. The mauve shade is called Jena and the more neutral/nude color is Casey.

Hope you enjoyed the look! I think these shades of purple are really easy to wear... instead of being a really pure purple shade, they have a little softer tone. These Tarte shadows do have some fallout, so it's important to tap off your brush when you apply them, but other than that, they are very easy to blend and are really nicely pigmented.

Daily Nuggets
  • BlogTV failed on me this morning for Beauty Broadcast Live! Wouldn't even detect my Macbook's webcam. I'll be looking into a new way to broadcast live.
  • I feel like I've been blowing my nose non-stop this afternoon.
  • Posted my chili recipe on Beauty Vlogcast!
  • I tweeted about this yesterday- but I am so hooked on Justified!! OMG. My parents had been watching it and they were here during the season premiere a couple nights ago. I saw that and loved it and have now started watching season 1.
  • Cupcake has gotten in the habit of going wild in the morning and then sleeping the afternoon away. I snapped this pic of her earlier right after she calmed down :)

  1. Perhaps Cupcake, your assistant, is not used to you being home all day! Hopefully she will adjust soon!

Also, hope you feel better soon!

  7. As a behavior nurse and cat lover, i ask you to please consider giving Cupcake some alone time in the morning for a few weeks; such as, in a room or bathroom with the door closed. From your last month descriptions she is behaving in a stressed manor. Giving her alone time is a gift to her. One tip that worked for me was to use music with the alone time and same music weeks later without the alone time. Good luck from a makeup fan. Shaggypalmtree.blogspot.com

  9. Thank you for the tarte review, my favorite Tarte product is the Tarte smooth operator Amazonian clay eye base. I have half a tube remaining and until its restocked I am treating it like gold, (funny how us makeup lovers treat our beloved objects) shaggypalmtree.blogspot.com

  11. Omg, that blush and the lip glosses are beautiful. I am going to have to see if I can get them and not in the kit. I have way too many eyeshadows to even justify getting a kit with eyeshadow. I think Cupcake is just not used to you being home, or maybe this is what she used to do when you were at work in the morning, lol. It is her exercise time.

  16. I got this set on my birthday last month and love it! The eyeshadows are super goregous and the lip glosses are nice. Plus I had that coupon for $20 off a $50 purchase, so it was a steal! The only thing is, I can't seem to make the blush work for me. I'm not sure if it's because I'm super fair-skinned or I'm not applying it the right way. I have to play with it more :)

  17. I absolutely love this set! I'm so glad I picked it up. I've heard a lot of negative reviews, but I think everything in it is a nice "something different" to add to my collection. The shadows have a sheer/iridescence to them that is SO pretty!

  24. Thank you for the look! I got this set for Christmas and haven't ventured into it yet, but this will be the first look I try! Also, I love Cupcake! I have a tabby named Henry, he looks similar to Cupcake color wise but he has some white markings, too. I love watching you and hope you do another look with this Tarte set live!! :)

  29. I am mentally kicking myself because I saw this at Sephora a couple of weeks ago and I did not get it. Now, it is all sold out! Double darn it! I love the design and packaging too! I've never tried Tarte products before but I'm interested in the blush because I've only heard good reviews about it. I'm not sure to get a NARS blush or a Tarte blush. I am new to wearing blush so I'm not sure what type of blush I am looking for that I can wear everyday, maybe? I think I'll just skip blush and stick with a bronzed for contouring and what not. Blushes scare me ;(

  32. I love that you're updating the blog so often now! Thanks.

I got hooked on Deputy Marshal Raylen Givens (and his hat) back in season 1 so I'd love to you here what you think of Justified.

Oh, and if you have a preview or review of the Tarte TSV coming up in February, please post. I already have my heart set on ordering this from QVC so I'd love to hear what you think. It's my chance to finally try the Amazonian clay foundation.
