Hey everyone! Just wanted to post a quick review on Maybelline's newest mascara- the Rocket. It claims to give "the most explosive, beautiful lashes ever!" While I don't think I want my lashes to be capable of exploding, some length and volume would be nice.
The large brush with short bristles and a blunt tip reminds me a lot of Cover Girl Lash Blast, but the formula applies with a much heavier feel. The mascara feels thick and does build length and thickness quickly on the lashes, but doesn't do so well with separation. Meanwhile I find Cover Girl Lash Blast to be one of the least clump-prone mascaras I've tried.
While it seems like lots of newer mascaras tend to feel lighter and more flexible on the lashes, this mascara made my lashes feel so hard and brittle once it dried. I guess I've gotten used to mascaras making my lashes feel more like, well, lashes... so I really noticed the brittle feel that this mascara gave me. On the up-side, this mascara didn't flake or smudge at all on me.
Overall, this isn't the worst mascara I've ever tried, but it's definitely not the best and I don't plan to repurchase it. I've tried many other mascaras (Cover Girl Lash Blast, Almay Get Up and Grow, L'oreal Double Extend), that give me length and thickness, while ALSO separating the lashes more... giving me the look of more lashes. Perhaps this mascara will improve and feel less heavy as I continue to use it, but for now it's just pretty average for me.
Daily Nuggets...
- Dad is in the area on business for a couple of days, and mom came with him. This afternoon we engaged in a major cleaning session in my makeup room closet. Let's just say, it'll be a 2-day job!
- We're watching the BCS Championship game right now- Bama vs. Notre Dame! I'm rooting for Alabama, but at this point I'm hoping Notre Dame scores just to make the game interesting!
- I got mom some footie pajamas for Christmas, identical to the pair I got from Walmart a month or so ago. She actually likes them! I always feel the urge to dance around when I'm wearing them!

I just purchased this mascara a couple of days ago, and it does make my eyelashes VERY hard. But it does make them very long and thick. So I guess it's 50/50 :)
Funny, I actually like that mascara way better than the covergirl, which flaked on me. I am not sure if you have only tried it a few times, but I found after a week or so my lashes actually started to feel more soft and flexible when it was on, while the covergirl one kept them feel super brittle and crunchy.
Thanks for the review Emily! I saw this mascara at Ulta yesterday and considered buying it but decided to skip it in lieu of getting a couple of other things. I'm glad you did this review so now I'm not tempted to go back and get it! :D

Hi Emily, I have annoying straight Asian lashes and need waterproof to make it curl. I love lash blast, but it smudges on me. Any suggestions to get it to stop? I hear lash primers can help, but I've never used one before. Thanks!
In general, Maybelline Falsies and Full and Soft mascaras are my faves.

Great review and just the way I felt about the mascara. Just to use the tube up, I'm using my old stand by Maybelline Full and Soft as a base coat and then using the Volum'Express as a second coat. I like it that way.
The Almay Get up and grow mascara is one really GOOD mascara. I've at least purchased 3 tubes :-)

I like this one more than Lash Blast, simply because I cannot get over the smell of Lash Blast. This one reminds me more of the Lash Blast Fusion than the normal Lash Blast though. It's perfect when I wear it over my XXL Pro Extensions mascara.

I won't be buying this mascara! I normally love maybelline mascaras I don't want my lashes to feel crunchy.

Maybelline Falsies is my current mascara of choice. I've tried others but I always find myself going back to it. I also tried Almay Get Up and Grow but didn't like how they made my lashes lose my curl. I would put it on and then in a few seconds they would be straight as an arrow. Yuck. LOL.

I really like this mascara :) it gave my lashes so much volume lol but it's really hard to have it come off :( even though mine says it's not waterproof... I'm definitely going to try the other mascaras you've mentioned :)
