Makeup PINspiration: Peachy Glow

Hey everyone!
So every now and then I get on these streaks on Pinterest. I may not have time to use the site a whole lot for a couple of weeks, and then suddenly I'm all about it again. Last night I was scoping out the various makeup pins, and I saw this one.

Regardless of how you feel about the Kardashians, you've got to admit, Kim's makeup looks amazing here. Typically I'd be drawn to her eye look or lips, and I think it all looks great, but what especially caught my interest was the really pretty, peachy glow to her cheeks. I enjoy both the tone of the blush and the placement-- not too close to the nose, definitely kept on the outer part of the apple of the cheek and swept back.

I posted this pic on Instagram/Twitter earlier this morning. Basically I tried to recreate that sculpted, peachy glow with drugstore products. The products are pictured from top to bottom in the order they were applied...
  • First I used the Cover Girl Cheekers blush in Sierra Sands to warm up and contour the cheekbone. I blended it back all the way to the ear.
  • That color really blended nicely with the ELF Studio Blush in Candid Coral (which is a bit more peachy than it appears in the pic). I used that shade on the outer part of the apple of my cheek and swept it back, just above the deeper color.
  • I highlighted the top of my cheekbones and down the nose with Wet n Wild's Color Icon Reserve Your Cabana. It's great because it brightens with hardly any shimmer.

I'm loving this little contour/blush/highlight cocktail! I'm also wearing the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette on my eyes, and on my lips I'm wearing Tarte Glamazon Pure Performance lipstick in Pure (a peachy nude). Do you spend a lot of time on Pinterest? What is your favorite kind of thing to pin? I obviously love the makeup and hair stuff, but I'm also pretty proud of my Funny and Cuteness boards :)

Daily Nuggets...
  • Just spent a few hours editing my Get Ready with Me video... it'll be posted tomorrow!
  • I need to clean the bathroom... I've done a pretty good job of avoiding that task so far today.
  • Thinking about those of you on the east coast who'll be dealing with a blizzard! Are you prepared? Did you run out to the grocery store for milk & bread?
  • I'm emceeing an fundraiser concert for a local homeless shelter tomorrow night. I did it last year and it was fun- hopefully it's a success again this time around!

I can't deny that she's a beautiful woman, but those eye lashes are scary.

Unfortunately, I am unable to get past my Kardashian issues enough to appreciate Kim's looks, but I think you look great! Because you are great! I usually end up pinning easy craft & recipe ideas.

I am definitely like that too with Pintrest! It can be addicting. I love this makeup look and how you've recreated it! Dramatic, but still soft and romantic. Perfect!

You're gorgeous with a bare face.
I'm in northern NY so I'm always ready here for storms with lots of food. We have about 9" now and that much more to come.
:)
Great blog and youtube,

That's why I don't understand how their makeup line is such crap. Her makeup is always stunning. They just took us for granted. I returned my product. Back to the Peachy Glow - I'm having a hard time seeing yours in the picture, the lighting or something was off.

I love the look and Kim Kardashian always has great makeup. There's never a look that I don't like. She's a beautiful person!!!! I usually check my Pinterest almost every day and pin either beauty stuff, recipes, or nerdy stuff. I'm proud of my Funny board, Geekery board, Makeup Fun board, and Beauty DYI and Recipes board. But I am surprised that I gained a good amount of followers for my "Drugstore Dupe for High-End products". I've pinned your videos pertaining to that certain subject and some of your blog posts so I'm helping you out by introducing you to the world!!! If you want, check out my Pinterest. I'm already following you on Pinterest and it would be great if you would follow me. If not, no worries, but if you have time, check out my boards.

I go in streaks with Pinterest! It is great site, but I'll be addicted for a while and then kind of forget about it. Definitely love the makeup board of course, but also the diy/craft board. So. OBSESSED.

I love this look! It looks beautiful on you. Which Urban Decay shades from the Naked 2 palette did you use on your lids? Good luck tomorrow night at the fundraiser; I'm sure it will go great! :)

You know I appreciate women who achieve looks I like who do it themselves. Anyone can look beautiful with a staff and unlimited funds. I hate seeing you give this "woman" undeserved face time. Please abstain, her impact on society is bad enough.

That look is gorgeous. Do you by any chance have a tutorial on how to achieve a "dewy" look...romantic dewy. I've been wanting to try a very soft, rosy/dewy look for awhile but I'm handicapped when it comes to applying makeup.
Thanks!
Liz

I really love peachy glows! I think Kim has overdone it a little haha, I just think she can be prettier with less makeup, but hey it's her choice :)

Great post!

Oh, Emily, Emily, how could you possibly be interested in anything re: the Kardashians. I will now cancel my beautybroadcast subscription.

Good luck in the beauty biz.

Hi Emily, this isn't really related to anything in this particular post or comment thread, but I'd like to know if you have ever scraped the sides of makeup in a pot to smush it back towards the center...or otherwise reconstituted makeup in awkward containers to get those last bits! I know you've done empties videos before but not sure if you have techniques or suggestions to prolong makeup that seems awkward to use or can be salvaged in this way!

She has a very beautiful face but she tends to overdo it sometimes. I'm not a fan of her fake bottom lashes.
