Face of the Day: VERY Girly

 Hi guys!
Beauty Broadcast Live was so fun this morning! #thankyouforbeingafriend :) I had lots of questions about the makeup I was wearing, so I thought I'd do a "Face of the Day" post about it. As soon as I put on my "I Love Makeup" shirt- I felt the need to go with pink and purple! It's fun, bright, and may be a bit much for some peoples' taste. But I've been wearing a lot of neutrals lately, so I figured, heck- go big or go home! :) Here's what I used...

 Face Products...
-Cover Girl Whipped Creme Foundation (#325 Buff Beige) *Review coming soon!!*
-MAC Pro Longwear Concealer (NW20)
-Maybelline Shine Free Pressed Powder (Golden)
-Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer
-Flower Beauty Blush/Bronzer Duo (Gloriously Golden- just used the blush)

Eye Products...
This is my biggest palette! It's the 252 Ultimate Eyeshadow Palette from Coastal Scents. There are three separate palettes that lift out, and I used the one with pinks & purples. I first applied my Wet n Wild Fergie eyeshadow primer.

Step 1: Apply the shimmery medium pink all over the lid. (I also used a bit of white around the tear duct, but forgot to identify that shade on the palette).
Step 2: Apply the matte purple on the outer part of the lid, and blend into the crease, pulling the color upward and out slightly to create the "outer V"
Step 3: With a tiny bit of the bright pink on a brush, blend above the purple crease shade, creating a "halo" of pink that will be visible when the eye is open.
Step 4: Using a smudge brush, blend the shimmery purple under the eye from inner to outer corner.

More eye products!
-I used Milani Ultrafine Liquid Eyeliner in Black Vinyl across the upper lashline, creating a slight wing.
-I used Tarte EmphasEYES Inner Rim Brightener on my waterline.
-Topped off the look with Cover Girl's new Flamed Out mascara (review is coming soon!)
-Also wearing false lashes- Eylure Katy Perry colllection in Oh Honey!

Lip Products...
-Tarte Glamazon Lipstick in Whimsy
-Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss in Pink Pop

Hope you enjoyed this look! It's always fun to play around with those huge palettes because the options seem endless! Sometimes people say they are too overwhelming. If you feel that way, when choosing shades, pretend like you're building your own quad or trio. Don't feel like you need to use a dozen different shades on your eye just because dozens of shades are there. Just concentrate on picking light, medium, and dark colors that you think would look good together. Sometimes it takes some trial and error to determine what truly does look good together... but that's the fun of makeup! Don't like it? Just wash it off! :) Would you like to see more "paint by number" makeup posts like this with large palettes?

Daily Nuggets...
  • New video is uploading now! It's a quick one-- my Sally Beauty Supply haul.
  • My computer has locked up 3 times while I've tried to type this post!
  • Went to Walgreens yesterday because we needed toilet paper. Left with People Style Watch, face masks, and lip balm. Oh yeah, and toilet paper.
  • Concerned about the amount of non-junk emails turning up in my "junk" folder.
  • Idol again tonight!! I have no idea who is going home- they're all so good. But Angie was my favorite from last night!

  1. Emily, be it a small palette or big , or even a shade from palette and another shade from another palette ; I always take shade and try swatches of the ones im thinking of using on my hand to see if i like them side by side . Next , while It's on my hand, I get a general idea of what would look good beside another shade and by that time I already have an idea of the shades and their individual depth , pigmentation . So then it;s easier for me to conceptualize and layer or create looks .

  2. Love your look. :) I've been told that Costal Scents eye shadows are AMAZING. I signed up for Ipsy and I know they give a lot of their eye shadows out, so it looks like I may get to try them. :)

  6. I have 2 of the 88 Color Palettes from Coastal Scents and was forcing myself to use them this week since they rarely get any love. This type of post is great because it helps me play with color too! Gorgeous look!

  7. Yes show some love from the bigger palettes! I'm so sad. My original coastal scents warm palette I got about 4 years ago was broken by my cat last week. So while its on sale I went ahead and got a new one. Not impressed! The colors are mostly the same but not the same quality. Powdery and not near as soft and pigmented. Stupid cat! He also broke the prism and mirage palettes too I just havent replaced those yet.

  12. Hey Emily, I just read that Revlon is re-packaging and discontinuing most of the super lustrous lip glosses, have you heard anything about this, and if this is true we all need to pick up some back ups. Thanks for your time :)

  15. Nice one! I love the color combination of your eyeshadow. I'm just a newbie on this and I'd love to learn about how to do this. Don't you post about skincare? I'd love to share my experience about it. LifeCell Skincare is the best solution for my skin problems.
