My Lil MAC Haul

Happy Monday everyone!
Thought I'd share a little MAC haul with you. A couple weeks ago I got on the MAC website for one reason, and of course felt compelled to try a few other things. It's actually been quite awhile since I've made any sort of MAC purchase. I think MAC has great products-- (Pro Longwear foundation/concealer, eyeshadows, lipsticks, etc.), but I'm not really a MAC-aholic. I don't tend to pounce on new collections.

What drew me to the site to begin with was this product- the Prep + Prime Highlighter in Light Boost. I'd heard some rave reviews on this, so I thought I'd give it a go. I don't think I've ever actually tried anything from MAC's Prep + Prime line (gasp!) I was intrigued by this highlight because of it's yellow tone... it seems like most of my highlighting pens/cream products have a pink tone and usually some shimmer. I like that this seems to brighten- but it does so through it's color, not because of sparkle/shimmer. I've used this a few times under the eyes and anywhere else on the face I want to highlight. I like it, but I do feel the need to wear a little concealer with this too. It's not so much a coverage product as it is a brightener. I'll keep experimenting with the best ways to use this.

I really enjoy a good MAC lip product every now and then! I also love their light vanilla-ish scent. I'm loving pinks right now so here's what I picked out (swatched from left to right): Sunny Seoul Cremesheen lipstick (shown above in the silver tube), Viva Glam Nicki satin-finish lipstick, and Viva Glam Nicki Lipglass.

In this pic I'm wearing Sunny Seoul. I LOVE this color! First off, I love the cremesheens... of all of the MAC lipsticks I own, most are in that formula. They're creamy, not at all dry, and just feel good on the lips. I was surprised I didn't already have this one! It has a little shimmer and when I wear it sheer, I notice the slightest bit of a coral tone. When I build it up a bit more (like in the pic above)- more of the pink comes through. Beautiful shade!

Here I'm wearing the Viva Glam Nicki lipstick and lipglass. I'm pretty sure I've seen Nicki Minaj sporting her signature lipstick on Idol more than a few times (reminds me of Milani's Color Statement Lipstick in Fruit Punch!), and I just felt the need to get it! This satin-finish lipstick has a lot more color to it than Sunny Seoul- it's very opaque. The coordinating gloss really kicks up the look! A couple days ago I just wore the gloss alone for this overall color, but a more sheer look on the lips.

Overall I'm very happy with what I got! Loving all of the lip products- and I especially think I'm going to get lots of use out of Sunny Seoul. I'll continue working with the Prep + Prime highlight and keep you posted on how that goes! :)

Daily Nuggets...
  • Uploading a new video for the vlog channel right now- featuring Kalee! :)
  • Had a really fun Sunday with Tyler! The day included a chimichanga, an Orange Julius, beautiful weather, and Mad Men.
  • It's that time of year where a lawn mower is running within earshot at all times.
  • Also yesterday- we went to Dick's Sporting Goods so Tyler could pick up a new golf glove. Before leaving, Tyler says to me- "anything else you want to look at?" ... my response "that's like me asking you that question before we leave Ulta." :)

  1. Lol... my husband asks those silly questions too! However, our 2yr anniversary was a couple of weeks ago and he went to MAC and picked out a few products as a part of his gift. Mainly eyeshadows because he knows I love them. Suprising enough I didn't have the colors and I actually like them. What possessed him to do this... I have no clue but it was sweet. Had to share since you did a mini MAC haul:)

  4. That's funny, I have sunny seoul and mine is sooo much less pink, it's very coral on me, even in the tube it appears much less pink than that one! Hmm, strange.

  5. I actually don't own a ton from MAC - they're great and all, but not my favourite brand. I am really loving all of those swatches though!

  6. I have VERY dark circles and I do use a yellow product FIRST under 1 or two other concealers (much like Nurberxo's routine) which is why I haven't jumped on this product. It seems like it would be a waste to layer other concealers over it. I use the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser in the Neutralizing tone. I'd love to see your thoughts on this product in a video though!

  7. Very nice! I am not a MAC-aholic either but have purchased from there once and really like the soft and gentle skinfinish. Hoping to go to MAC this weekend and find some more goodies!

  11. I LOVE my MAC Prep & Prime Light Boost. I typically do my concealer/foundation routine and then use Light Boost as a highlighter after I contour. It finishes off my look perfectly.

  12. I'm glad you did this review! I've been wanting to try some of the prep and prime line! I used some of the lip primer at the Mac counter when I purchased my last lipsticks and really loved it, plan on picking it up next time I go. Also great color selection on the lipsticks! Very trendy for summer! :)

  18. Emily, I hope this isn't weird, but I have had PTSD since I was six, and I have several mental health problems because of it. When I'm feeling depressed or anxious, I watch your videos or read your blog because your so personal and it's an amazing distraction. Thank you so much.<3 And by the way, the Nicki Minaj lipstick and gloss looks great on you, I'm jealous, I can't pull it off.
