FOTD Featuring MAC Satin Taupe & Sketch

 Hello everyone!
First off, thanks for joining me on Beauty Broadcast Live today! It was fun, as always!! Last night while I was trying to get caught up on tweets (still have some catching up to do), I saw this one from @Lily_Beth94...

It made me realize that it's been a long time since I've done a look with my MAC eyeshadows! I happen to really like the ones Lily asked about- Satin Taupe is a really versatile mid-toned shade, and Sketch is one of the first MAC products I ever purchased! It's a pretty plum color. So I decided to put together a soft, everyday look with the shades Lily requested, plus a couple of others. I just love when request prompts a video or blog post-- so keep them coming!! :) Here are all the products I used today...

-Revlon Colorstay Foundation for Normal/Dry Skin (Fresh Beige)
-Cover Girl + Olay Concealer Balm (Fair/Light)
-MAC Prep + Prime Highlighter (Light Boost)
-L'oreal True Match Pressed Powder (Sun Beige)
-NARS Bronzer (Laguna)
-Laura Geller Baked ImPRESSions Blush (Mauve Mocha Latte)
-LORAC Perfectly Lit Powder (Spotlight)

-ELF $1 Eyelid Primer
-MAC Shadows in Satin Taupe, Cork, Sketch, and Shroom
-Rimmel ScandalEYES Liner (Nude - in the waterline)
-L'oreal Voluminous Smoldering Eyeliner (Black)
-Estee Lauder Automatic Brow Pencil Duo (Dark Brown)
-Maybelline the Falsies Big Eyes Mascara
-Andrea Strip Lashes #26

Swatched from left to right: MAC shadows in Satin Taupe, Cork, Sketch, and Shroom

For this shadow look, I patted Satin Taupe all over the lid with a flat brush, and also blended it up into the crease with a fluffy brush (you could actually stop there and get a nice "one shadow" look!) Then I blended out the border of Satin Taupe (upper part of the crease/near the brow bone) with Cork. I patted Sketch in the outer corner, slightly pulling it up into the crease. I also used Sketch as my lower liner with a smudge brush, along with a bit of Satin Taupe. See the warmth just above the crease? That's the combination of blending out Sketch and Cork. Kinda cool!

-L'oreal Colour Riche Lipstick (Fairest Nude)
-Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner (Eastend Snob)
-Mally High Shine Liquid Lipstick (Mally's Look)

Thanks for checking out this "Face of the Day" and thanks to Lily for requesting those shadows! :) In case you didn't see it on my YouTube channel this morning, I have an announcement!!!
Huge Thanks to Sigma for offering to host this meetup! I really hope I have the opportunity to meet lots of you and get to know you better! Tyler and I are super excited about it (and if you saw the video- so is Cupcake! However, she won't be attending the meetup LOL). If you can come, don't forget to RSVP! You can do so at the email address above or by clicking this link. Sigma also put together this cool blog post letting people get to know me. Thank you again to anyone who is planning to come-- it's going to be so fun!!!

Daily Nuggets...
  • On a roll with videos this week- there's another one coming tomorrow!
  • Last night I made corn bread waffles with chili. SO GOOD!!! I think this might be a vlog-worthy recipe to demonstrate!
  • You know how cats sometimes seek out a really out of the way place to take a nap? Well Cupcake is napping right in the center of the living room floor right now.
  • I need to clean the bathroom. And trim some hedges. boo!

  1. Oooh, this makes me want to create a similar look using the Nude Tude palette from thebalm!

  2. The link you posted to do the RSVP did not allow me to RSVP just 1 person. It did work when I changed it to 2 people. I was planning on taking a friend with me anyway so my reservation isn't necessarily incorrect (unless I can't find anyone to come with me). I don't know if anyone else is having this problem or not, but it could cause issues for their head count.

  5. Fun!! I wish I could be there, have a blast! Debora, I think that Shy Girl from MAC looks a lot like that soft pink, it's one of their creme sheen lipsticks and I love it. Very soft, non-shimmery, creamy pink. Hope that helps :)

  13. Oh my gosh! I'm so disappointed that I will actually be in Minneapolis exactly one month after your meet/greet. I would love the opportunity to meet you! I live in DC Area, so I wouldn't be able to get out there for the July 13th date. Come to DC! It's the place to be!

  19. Hi emily, I bought the comfort zone palette due to your recommendation and I really love the definer shadow on the lower right that is either a shimmery brown or an iridescent blue depending on how you swatch it. Could you do a tutorial using that shade?

  21. Hi Emily! I just tweeted you, but I was wondering what your thoughts were on the NEW colorstay foundation formula?? I actually really dispise it! :/ Not sure if the normal/dry formula is diff but the oily formula made me a total greaseball and it wasn't full coverage.

  22. Hey Em, I'm looking for a drugstore foundation that can stand up to Florida humidity for a Disney vacation. I have dry skin, so it needs to be long-lasting, but without drying me out or making me look flaky or cakey. I also have major redness on my cheeks, so I need coverage and can't get away with just a BB cream. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  24. Really cool tutorial!
I see you use Revlon Colorstay as a foundation. Have you ever considered using any other foundation? Don't get me wrong, I love it!

  26. Hey Emily!

I know you're a makeup genius and have OODLES of video and blog ideas but I thought I'd drop an idea into the suggestion box that is your mind, haha.

How about a summertime lip color post? I like lip butters and all but how about some other lightweight, somewhat-lasting lip color suggestions? I hate greasy-feeling lips or textures that are too thick for the season.

Hope it happens. Thanks for all your inspiration, Emily!
