Sephora Favorites "Give Me Some Lip" Sampler
Welcome back to my blog! I've been away for a few days but I'm back with a review on some of my favorite things- lip products! This is the Sephora Give Me Some Lip sampler! I got it for $25 at sephora.com, and as one who reviews products- I LOVE sets like this that give you products from a number of different brands to try. I've tried different kits like this in the past, but I first learned about this particular set on BeautyMoxie's YouTube video. She did a great review & tried on all of the products. Now that I have the kit, I thought I'd review it for you as well! :)
The rose-gold colored box comes in a cute pink sleeve, and then all of the products are inside in height order (flashback to the days of lining up in elementary school). FYI- that $25 sticker does peel off. I think this would be such a great little gift! For a friend, a bridesmaid, a teacher gift... I think it's just so fun. Plus, the shades are so wearable! I really think the creators did a great job of putting together a kit packed with neutrals and pinks that I think any woman could feel comfortable wearing in pretty much any situation. Plus there's a nice variety of glosses, lip colors, a lip plumper, and even a lip treatment. For the most part these are travel-size, but the Tarte LipSurgence is full-size.
I have pics of these on my lips, but I thought a side-by-side comparison might be nice as well. These are swatched in the same order that they appear in the open box pic above. From left to right: Fresh Sugar Rose Tinted Lip Treatment, Laura Mercier Lip Glace in Bare Pink, Buxom Full-On Lip Polish in Dolly, NARS Lip Gloss in Turkish Delight, Bite Beauty High Pigment Pencil in Rhubarb, and Tarte LipSurgence Lip Luster in Glitzy.
Fresh Sugar Rose Tinted Lip Treatment - I love the Fresh Sugar lip treatments, and if you buy them full-size on their own, they're kind of pricey ($22.50...almost the price of this whole kit!). So this is a nice way to try a really high quality lip balm, and the tint on this is gorgeous... not too red, not too pink. Just very natural and has a wonderfully hydrating and comfortable feel on the lips. This has a soft rosy/floral scent and SPF 15.
Laura Mercier Lip Glace in Bare Pink - This is my first experience with a Laura Mercier Lip Gloss, and the first thing I noticed was the scent... it almost makes me think of the vanilla-ish scent of a MAC lipstick, but there's a little something extra that I can't quite put my finger on. It's very pleasant! The gloss is rather thin, not at all sticky, and very shiny. It seemed very milky and a little peachy-toned on my lips, but it was so sheer that I felt like a lot of the color from my naturally mauve-toned lips came through. I kind of wish it wasn't so sheer, but I do think it looks pretty on the lips.
Buxom Full-On Lip Polish in Dolly - I've been a long-time fan of the Buxom glosses! There's a thickness and slight bit of tackiness to these glosses that makes them very long-wearing. These glosses claim to make the lips look more full, and I think the thickness and shine of the gloss are what do it. There's also a bit of a minty tingle, which I don't find uncomfortable at all. The shade Dolly is a classic mauve with a little shimmer-- I'm surprised that this is my first time trying this beautiful shade!
NARS Lip Gloss in Turkish Delight - I remember buying this shade of NARS gloss in the full size several years ago when it was being touted as Kim Kardashian's signature shade. I don't much care for the scent of NARS glosses (kind of chemical-ish, though not totally objectionable), but I do love the texture. It's very smooth and comfortable on the lips. Like the Laura Mercier gloss, this one seems rather milky and is kind of sheer. You can see my natural lip color peeking through. My favorite way to wear this gloss is to add a bit of shine on top of a nude lipstick.
Bite Beauty High Pigment Pencil in Rhubarb - This was the part of this kit that I was most excited to try! In this post I mentioned my first experience with a small kit of Bite lip products, and I REALLY love them. These jumbo pencils are said to deliver "the modern matte look". This rhubarb shade is a nice deep rose, bordering on red. I LOVE it. Brings the whole face to life! It goes on so smoothly with full color, and feels awesome. As with other Bite lip products, it contains the anti-oxidant resveratrol, which is found in red wine. This stick twists up from the bottom.
Tarte LipSurgence Lip Luster in Glitzy - As a long time fan of LipSurgence, I was excited to try a shade I've never used before! Plus it's full-size. There's a hint of shimmer in this product, and I think it's one of the most classic-looking lip colors of the whole bunch. It's kind of like the Fresh Sugar Rose lip treatment- just kicked up a notch color-wise. These twist up from the bottom, and go on ultra smooth and have a minty scent/feel. I truly think any woman would look awesome in this color.
There you go! All of the shades in the Give Me Some Lip set! I think it's an awesome value for $25, and a great way to experiment with different high-end brands. My favorite part of the kit is probably the Bite Beauty pencil! But I'll continue to use them all- either wearing them alone or layering them with different products. Thanks for reading!! :)
- It's been a busy few days! I was in West Chester, PA on Friday to shoot some beauty videos for QVC! They'll be featured as part of a fall beauty event on their website later this week- it was such a cool experience for both the makeup and technology geeks in me! :) The entire crew was incredibly nice, as were the lovely ladies I got to do makeup on!! I did a matte lip on QVC Host Gabrielle Kerr, a Smokey eye on Sharon from MomGenerations, and a Copper Glow look on Audrey- also from MomGenerations! Cameras also followed me as I toured the studio, standing just feet from what was happening on live TV! I made some new friendships, learned a lot, was totally in my makeup element, and just had an unforgettable day! Oh and shout-out to Shaun who I met on the plane ride home-- I hope you get your YouTube channel started soon! :)
- Yesterday Tyler and I went with some friends to the Rams season opener! We had a great time & the Rams won!! Afterward we went to a bar by the St. Louis riverfront called Sundecker's where there was plenty of dancing and celebration among the Rams fans. Fun, fun, fun!!
- I tried the Lay's Chicken & Waffles chips... I like them!! What do you think?!
- I'm wearing my favorite shirt today...
