I wanted to do one of those fun beauty blog tags, and ran across the Procrastinating Beauty Blogger Tag on Beautyholics Anonymous (what a great name for a blog, right?)... I thought it sounded pretty entertaining! I also thought I looked like a major procrastinator in the pic above, so I figured that needed to be included. Here are my answers (along with some visual aids), and if you're a beauty blogger, I encourage you to do this tag on your own blog!
See how my buddy Kalee is blow-drying her hair? I hardly ever do that! I really dislike blow-drying my hair, and I've actually arranged my lifestyle so I don't have to do it often. I almost always wash my hair at night, put my hair in one of my half-dozen Turbie Twists so it can start absorbing a lot of the moisture, and then take it off and let my hair air-dry the rest of the way overnight. The next morning, if the hair is damp or if there are any kinks I need to work out before styling, I'll hit it with the blow dryer for maybe 30 seconds (max)- and then I'm good. Maybe it's because I have long hair, maybe it's because I don't own a super awesome blow dryer... but I try to avoid the task if at all possible. And Lord knows I'm not bringing out a round brush to further complicate the situation!
Actually, yes it is! Of course I have to have the latest & greatest in beauty gadgetry to make it fun for me. I use my Sigma brush cleaning glove every time I wash my brushes (lately I've been using baby shampoo), and then I dry my brushes in my Benjabelle brush tree. These things make the brush cleaning process much more efficient, and make cleaning my brushes every couple of weeks no big deal. I also don't always wash ALL of my brushes at once. Sometimes I'll just grab all of the eye brushes, and another time do the face brushes. Whatever time allows. Then you can frolic with your clean brushes like I am in the picture above.
Ok... it's not that I like having chipped nails... but sometimes there's just not enough time in the day to re-do them! So maybe you're thinking- can't you just remove it real quick? Ummm.... yeah. You got me! I'll keep going with minor chips for as much as a few days. Massive mega ugly chips might prompt me to take action sooner. But as you can see, HD cameras show it all, so if I do have chips, you'll know!
Were the words "put off buying" actually used together in a sentence? The question for me should have been- "when will you stop buying back-ups and realize you have enough?!" Seriously... backups of my backups have backups. For example- I don't think I'll ever run out of mascara... there's always something waiting in the wings. There are very few makeup items that I find myself truly in "need" of... I get things because I want them or want to review them. So I know that my beauty-related career makes me different from the average makeup user, but at the same time I can admit that I'm a
Well, as a child it used to be eating lip balms. Now as you can see, I can appreciate the fine scents of a lip balm without taking a bite. My actual worst beauty habit is probably picking at my nails. I managed to stop biting them years ago, but I continue to pick at the cuticles and I don't even realize I'm doing it. I need to stop that!
I keep putting off ordering the stuffed alpaca that I couldn't fly back with from the Mall of America because it wouldn't fit in my bag! Someday that fluffy alpaca will be mine! But seriously, I'm trying to think of some recurring issue that I'm always putting off. I'll come back to this question later.
If at all possible, I try to be ahead of the game and have PLENTY of time to get ready so I don't have to curl my lashes, drink, and do my hair at the same time (that was actually a shot from this Get Ready with Me video). I don't like feeling rushed because I don't like being late... and worrying about being late leaves me stressed so I just go ahead and give myself more than enough time to get ready. Problem solved!
Does the girl pictured above look like she can stop herself? She's wearing an I Love Makeup shirt for pete's sake! I don't tend to put myself on makeup spending bans because I want to be able to try the latest & greatest things for my channel/blog. So while I don't often do a "no-buy", I will sometimes do a "low-buy" where I limit new purchases and I actually am able to stick with that. I also find that I can be quite satisfied "shopping my stash" and rediscovering old favorites.
I pretty much just have a pile going on the floor and just reach into that from time to time. Just kidding! I'd say my collection is very organized. I think if you're going to have a large collection, it needs to be well-organized so you know what you have. I'm very glad that I have the space to categorize products as much as I do, as opposed to cramming it all together and not being able to divide. I actually have my lip products, eyeshadows, and blushes color-coordinated and that helps a lot. It would take up less space if I didn't categorize stuff so much, but it helps me find things much more easily.
