Four Fun Eyeliners for Fall!
Hello friends!
Do you ever get into an eyeliner rut? While I switch up my eyeshadows quite often, sometimes I really have to make a conscious effort to use something other than black or brown eyeliner (I'm especially bad about always wanting to reach for a black liquid eyeliner pen!) Spring and summer seem to be the season for bright colors, but I've rounded up some pretty gorgeous colored liners that I'm going to be working into my fall looks. They have a wonderful richness to them that works well to define the eye, while providing an unexpected twist to the look. As an added bonus- they're all SUPER long-wearing and go on very easily!
Rimmel ScandalEyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal in Deep Blue ($4.49, Ulta.com)
After first falling in love with the Rimmel ScandalEyes in Nude, I tried some of the colors in the line and I really love this one. It's deep enough to give me the definition I want around the eye- so it's a nice substitute for my usual black. Unlike my next few liners, this one doesn't have any shimmer.
Jordana 12 Hr. Made to Last Liquid Eyeliner Pencil in Jade Jewel ($2.49, jordanacosmetics.com)
Could this green be any prettier? It has a little sparkle but I still find it to be a dark enough liner to nicely define my eyes. These are some of the most affordable liners in the drugstore (I find them at Walgreens) and they still have incredible staying power. Tarte Skinny SmolderEyes in Sunstone Bronze ($19, Ulta.com)
I'm pretty sure this is one of the smoothest, most easy to apply pencils I own. I believe I got it as part of a Beauty Test Tube, but had kind of forgotten about it until Kristin Gehm raved about these... and now I LOVE using it on my lower lashline. There's a little smudge tip on the opposite end of the liner, so I'll use that to sheer out the shade you see above and it looks SO PRETTY on the lower lashline, particularly when you have black in the inner rim and some rockin' lower lash mascara. Great for your bronzey-brown eye looks! FYI: As I was looking up the price for this, I saw this SmolderEyes kit on Ulta's site!
NYX Slide On Liner in Jewel ($7.99, Ulta.com)
Who owns a mauve eyeliner?! Such a unique, gorgeous color. Like the Tarte liner above, this one isn't super deep, so I'll be using this as a little accent on my lower lashline. I think it'll play nicely with eye looks ranging from plum to burgundy. Whenever I pop one of these lighter, shimmery liners on the lower lashline, I feel like it gives the lower lashes a pretty backdrop. Make sure to smudge it out a little for a really pretty, blended look.

- Did you see yesterday's haul video?
- I have so many windows open on this computer right now. I'm confusing myself.
- I really need to do my nails.
- Last night I made something called "Mini Cheeseburger Pies" - they were really good! I added some extra cayenne pepper & seasoned salt to the burger mixture & Tyler and I really liked them.
That Jordana green shade is gorgeous!! Too bad I already have way too many eyeliners... Great post! xx

Perfect shades for fall! I especially love Jordana's Jade Jewel and Nyx'x Jewel such gorgeous colors, definitely adding these to my lengthy "makeup to try" list!

I am totally guilty of getting in an eyeliner rut. I think by the time I reach the liner step in my makeup routine I'm usually rushing and just grab black or brown (boring!). I'm definitely going to try out the beautiful green and mauve you showed above... I've never even seen a mauve before, but it looks fab! :) Thanks for the great suggestions.

Yeah. Definitely need some color to my eyeliner collection. Blue & purple sounds good to me! ;-)
ReplyDeleteDo you use the Jordana pencil on your lower lash line? I did that this weekend and had issues with the color not setting (since it's supposed to be a "liquid" pencil). The color kept transferring onto my eyeball and getting stuck under my contact lens, causing blurry vision. I had to take out the contact, rinse them off, and stick them back in. Again, the blurriness would occur...I'm not sure if more color was transferring, or if there was "liquid" actually on my eyeball that was then getting re-stuck under the now-clean lens. Maybe consider warning your viewers....it was more annoying than painful, but could be potentially dangerous for driving situations!!
ReplyDeleteI agree! No Buenos for the waterline. My eyes got very watery and I felt a stinging sensation.
Deletei have the Jewel from NYX and it is my absolute favorite for the lower lashline. i have found myself reaching for it so much in the last month that I should probably get a back up! the pinky/purple/mauve color is so eye catching without being loud. so pretty!
ReplyDeleteWould you consider doing a look with the Jordana one? I"m interested in getting it but not sure of how I'd wear it! Thanks!!!
ReplyDeleteThe NYX eyeliners look like wonderful dupes for the Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliners! I'll definitely check them out once I finish some of my other liners. And I really like the Rimmel Scandaleyes liners.
ReplyDeletei'm making myself use my liners more.. i usually tightline my top lashes with black, use a color on the bottom lashes, but put black on my waterline.. lately i've been loving lsd by urban decay.
ReplyDeleteThanks for featuring these liners, Emily. I've been searching for long lasting eyeliners. All of the shades are gorgeous, perfect for everyday use at work. I'll try the NYX liners when ever I got the chance to buy them. :)

I love me some colored eyeliners. I especially think purple eyeliner on top of a gold eyeshadow works wonders for my green eyes :)
ReplyDeleteGreat post Emily! Just an FYI, the liners in the Tarte smolderEyes kit on the Ulta site are not the same as the one you have featured in this post. I was fooled! I bought the kit expecting what I know and love from my skinny pencils, but they are completely different! I returned it, obviously. Just wanted to let everyone know so they don't make the same mistake.
ReplyDeleteLove the jade green and bronze liners. Such beautiful and vibrant colors. Beauty and The Travel Beat
ReplyDeletePlease do a tutorial with that burgundy one from NYX. Whenever I use it, it just comes across really bad haha So I would LOVE some help from you!
ReplyDeleteDefenitly need to get my hands on that green from jordana!
Can you please review the lorac unzipped palette?
ReplyDeleteI have been using Jewel the past few weeks when I want just a little definition around my eye but not really a liner look! It is absolutely gorgeous paired with a neutral eye. I LOVE it!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Emily! I was wondering if you have tried cover girl's ink it retractable eye liners. I am looking for a real good gold eure liner for the water line. Please help :)
ReplyDeleteI love jewel from NYX and I have Mac eyeliner. Anyway, I found you on Pinterest and I found interesting themes to customize our Pinterest page! Try it now!

ReplyDeleteThat Jordana eyeliner looks beautiful! I've never tried anything from that line before, but I've browsed at my Walgreen's. I may have to pick this eyeliner up!

Those colors are gorgeous, love you Emily
ReplyDeleteThere's no picture for the swatch for the Rimmel one
ReplyDeleteThe NYX mauve liner is an exact(at least from what I can tell) dupe of the Urban Decay 24/7 liner in 1999.
ReplyDeleteAm I the only person who really doesn't like the rimmel kohl kajals?
ReplyDeletexxx
Because of you I bought the NYX slide on pencil in Jewel and I'm in LOVE. It's so unique and I'm glad you recommended it! Thanks Emily and Happy New Year! :D
ReplyDeleteI like to compare eyeliners by wearing a different brand on each eye and observing their staying power during the day. I can quickly eliminate the good from the bad, then narrow it down further by comparing the good liners. I also love to test the best pencil liners and liquid liners by applying a coat to only the top lids of a freshly washed face at night. By only lining the top, I can see how much transfer or melting occurs down to the bottom lashes. (Make sure you sleep on your back :)
