LORAC Unzipped Palette - Swatches & Review

Hello friends!
Thanks for stopping by :) I just posted a LORAC Unzipped palette tutorial on my YouTube channel, so I though it'd make sense to share more information here on the blog. In that video, you only see a few of the shades in action, so here I'll do some swatches and just share some overall impressions. And if you haven't seen the tutorial yet, here it is!
The palette itself is very simple, and not over-sized at all (it's about the size of checkbook). There's a nice mirror on the inside, along with 10 shadows.
You can enlarge the picture to see more detail, but the shades are as follows: (Top row) Undercover, Unbelievable, Unattainable, Unconditional, Unbridled. (Bottom row) Undiscovered, Unreal, Uncensored, Unspoken, Untamed.
These swatches correspond with the placement of shadows in the palette. I feel like there are a few different finishes in this palette-- Unconditional, Unbridled, and Unspoken are all matte. Unbelievable, Unattainable, Undiscovered, Unreal, and Uncensored all have a shimmery/metallic look. Undercover and Untamed (the lightest and darkest shades in the palette) seem slightly less metallic, but still have some shimmer. I don't dislike any of these colors... they're a very soft, pigmented formula that I find very easy to blend. A little bit goes a long way, and I don't think I've done a look with this palette that I didn't like!
There are a lot of rosy tones in this palette, and I think it just looks so beautiful on the skin. I'm not sure if this is going to make sense, but it's almost like these colors are coming from within the skin, as opposed to just an eyeshadow placed on top of the skin. These shades seem to stem from natural tones in skin and I think that's what makes this palette super wearable. Big thanks to Kristin Gehm, by the way... because when I first met her, she had this palette and I had never seen it in person until that day. Needless to say, I ordered it soon after! :) It's funny, because I think we always remember what led us to our favorite beauty purchases! There are many palettes in my collection that I love... and while this might not have the most vast color selection- it's definitely one of my favorites. It's just that beautiful! ♥

Daily Nuggets...
  • I'm getting a root canal tomorrow morning. Not exactly looking forward to it and a little worried, but I'm trying to exercise some positive mind control... I'm thankful that I have teeth and good dental care.
  • I got the 7 Minute Workout app on my iPhone - it's pretty cool! It's takes you through a quick little circuit that you can do anywhere, and it's like you have a personal trainer walking you through it.
  • Yesterday I slipped on my pant leg while walking through the bathroom and fell hard right into the door frame. I have a mega purple bruise on the top part of my right arm.
  • Let's see... root canal, working out, bruises... let's end these nuggets on a fun note! Cupcake is really enjoying that new blanket I got from Kohl's. I threw it on top of her this morning and she happily stayed under it for quite awhile! :)

  1. Hmmm, Unbelievable and Unreal look exactly the same in that swatch. And Unattainable is also pretty close. They're pretty, though.

    1. In response to excitablespeech, everyone's swatches look a little different. Check these out to see the nuances in the shades you mentioned more clearly.

  4. If you're nervous about the root canal, I've heard that they're really no big deal. Both my Dad and my cousin have had one, and they said that the pain they experienced was because of their tooth's problem and not from the procedure to fix it. I'm sorry if you're in pain now, and I'm happy that soon everything will be taken care of and you can continue on your merry way! This video and post were fantastic. I'm a long time subscriber, and I always look forward to every video. You're great! Have a good evening :)

  18. If it wasn't written so clearly on the title and pallette I thought it could have been a Stila. I'm not quite into shimmers but I'm seeing it everywhere that it grows on me. And of course most importantly, Cupcake is so cute! :D

  19. Loved this post Em! I'm so sorry you fell yesterday :( praying that your root canal goes well and that it doesn't cause you too much pain. Love you! Sending big hugs your way :)

  20. Emily, the root canal is a breeze - I've had 7 because I have genetically awful teeth. You will get lots of sympathy from the husband and a really good night's sleep. Plus any residual pain in your gum is from holding your jaw open for so long. Biting will be a pleasure very soon...

  22. I have the Unzipped Palette (bought it after watching Kristen Gehm) and I love it. I did the Cozy Eye look this morning, it's beautiful! I've been looking for a way to incorporate the burgundy shades a little more and this tutorial is perfect!

  25. This looks like a great palette! As you have mentioned, this palette does have a good amount of rosy toned shades. With the new UD Naked 3 palette having the same theme of rosy shades, which one of these palettes would you use/like more? Thanks!
