My Beauty Product Backups

 Hi everyone!
Are there any products in your stash that you MUST have a backup of? Things that- if you run out of them- there will be a mini-crisis? I have a lot of products in my daily rotation, but there are a select few that I tend to have extras of. There are others that I should or did have extras of... that are no longer extras :) But here's a sampling of what's usually in my "backup" stash!
Lash Glue... It's just common sense that you can't wear false eyelashes if you don't have glue. I prefer Revlon Precision Lash Glue, and I usually find it at Wal-Mart. They seem to either have the clear or the dark-tone in stock... but not usually both at the same time. I'll use either kind, and the last time I was shopping, I picked up an extra (not realizing there was already a backup hanging around!) This stuff will definitely get used!
False Eyelashes... Months ago when I fell in love with the Red Cherry #43 false lashes- I ordered more. I got a couple 6-packs of them on Amazon for super cheap. They are just awesome when you want full, long lashes. Gorgeous!
Clear Brow Gel... When you've got some big, thick eyebrows... those things need to be tamed! I don't require a certain kind of brow gel- but this product from ELF is about as cheap as it comes- just $1 at Target. I'll start using this when I run out of the Maybelline Great Lash Clear.
More Eye Products... I think most of us have mascara backups! I actually have some different mascaras from several brands that have been sent to me for review- but these are the back-ups that I actually insist upon having in my collection. Mally Volumizing Mascara-- I experiment with many mascaras, but sometimes you just need to go back to the old faithful. This stuff is great, especially once a new tube is about 2 to 3 weeks in... then the formula becomes perfection. I also made sure to have an extra of the Mally Evercolor Automatic Waterproof Liner in Onyx. This is one of the best black liners for the waterline- it wears wonderfully! I also keep a backup of Cover Girl Clump Crusher Water Resistant... fantastic when I need the BEST staying power. Doesn't flake, and doesn't even smear when I use it on the lower lashes.
Random Beauty Stuff... I almost always have an extra TRESemme Tres Two mini. I keep one of these in my purse at all times, and it's a carry-on friendly travel size as well. So this one is just waiting to be used. Also- I have come to rely on Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs leg makeup. I can't remember the last time I wore a dress or shorts and DIDN'T have this on my legs. It makes them look flawless, tan, and it doesn't wipe off onto clothes or sheets (it'll wash off in the shower). If this stuff got discontinued, I'd be in trouble. Actually I'd be in trouble if any of this stuff was discontinued- scary thought! I also typically have an extra box of the Equate version of Olay Daily Facials Cleansing Cloths. I actually just busted into my backup. Those things take off ALL of my makeup, including eye makeup.

What's in your backup drawer? Even if you have a big collection of products that you're always using...  you just have to have backups of certain things! ;)

Daily Nuggets...
  • Just posted a new Stuff I Love video! I know, it's been too long!
  • Cupcake invaded 2 of the 3 videos that I shot today.
  • I have the urge to take my makeup off and start over. And it's almost 5pm. Does that ever happen to you?
  • Have you seen the K-Mart commercial where the dudes are wearing jingly boxer shorts?! HILARIOUS!

  2. my new favorite commercial, for sure!! :)

i redid my makeup just for the heck of it last night at like 7 p.m. - even though i knew i wasn't going anywhere - sometimes it's just nice to try a different or new look that i might not want to (or have time to) wear during the day! :)

i always have backups (multiple!) of my holy grail mascara, Avon Supershock, as well as their supershock eyeliner, i forget the color but it's a gunmetal dark grey and goes on similar to the urban decay 24 hour pencils. i also just grabbed a backup of my new favorite foundation, the nyx HD foundation! that stuff is fantastic!!

  3. I always have a backup of my body shop Vitamin C Serum. I love it!

  4. I always have a backups (or a hoard) of my Maybelline define a brow pencils- as a blonde its hard to find the perfect shade and the dark blonde does the trick. I'm afraid they will get discontinued so I keep buying them, and hoarding them.

  5. I just saw that Kmart jingly boxer shorts commercial last night for the first time and busted out laughing so hard I couldn't stop. My husband looked at me like I'd lost my mind, LOL! My backups are Loreal Lash Out mascara which I get on Ebay cuz it's discontinued; don't know how much longer I'll be able to get it! Also have backups of my favorite Laura Geller Balance n Brighten foundation and of my favorite primers. Keep extra stock of retinol cream and 2 each of fave lipsticks, O by Mac and the Revlon peach lip butter. And of course, a chapstick in every room and every purse!

  6. Great post... I have a full shelf in the linen closet devoted to "Backups" most of which are items I seem to order online, QVC, or HSN for fear of running out and the time delay to replenish.

  7. I usually keep backups of the Maybelline Age Rewind Eye Concealer. I try so many different products that I don't have many backups. I am currently on a spending ban, so I'm trying to use up alot of what I have!

  8. I always have a backup of my dollar store makeup remover wipes! They are awesome, and just a dollar, I used to use the Equate ones, but they irritated my eyes. They don't completely remove my eye makeup but I just need a tiny bit of makeup remover(liquid) and I'm good.

Now, that you mentioned the Elf Brow/eyelash gel, I need to get me a backup of that too :-D

1st comment on your blog by the way :-)

  10. Definitely have backups; sometimes backups of my backups. You never know when your favorite product will be discontinued (happens to me all the time!) Many times after doing a face of makeup I want to turn around and do another look just cause I love makeup so much! No sense in just letting it lay around not being used, right? Got a travel size of that TS hair spray in my Nov. IPSY bag!

  13. I always have a backup or two or three of the Mally volumizing mascara, I cannot use another kind I swear nothing beats it. I use anything else and I am left disappointed.

  14. I love the Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs too! I have such pasty legs that the lightest one gives me a nice hint of color. I've only used the spray one but I imagine the lotion formula would be nicer because it's less messy and is less wasteful.

  15. I have quite a few backups of Mally's mascara too! I love it and won't use anything else. I always have a backup of my favorite deodorant too, haha. Nail polish remover is another must have... hmm... I can't think of any more even though I know there's a bunch of crap in my beauty closet right now! ;)

    xo Always, Abby

  24. This may sound dumb, but I have never been able to replicate a look 100% alike, so I try to never re-do my makeup in the evening just for fun because what usually happens is I accidently get a fantastic look and nowhere to go :( As for backups, there is a great liquid eyeliner sold only here in mexico (the brand is called italia) and I always have backups of that. The good thing is that it's really cheap, so I can afford to buy 4 or 5 at a time.

  25. I love the ELF brow gel, I always have 3 or 4 backups of it because it runs out quickly. I also have backups of sunscreen, wet wipes, makeup remover, mascara and cotton pads. They're essentials for me :) x

  26. Love the idea of your post! Your blog is so excellent, it's refreshing (even though it shouldn't be....) to read a blogger with such good grammar and sentence structure! You're very well-spoken...a lot of the other blogs I read are just horrible English compared to you! I love that clump crusher too, although I don't have it in waterproof....

  27. Oh my god Emily, I KNEW we were beauty souls mates... The CG Clump Crusher WP mascara is my absolute, hands down HG mascara, regardless if I need a WP formula or not. It's just incredible stuff for the staying power and actual look of the lashes. I can not ever get enough of it!! I've been dying to get my hands on the Mally since you rave about it so much!

  34. Haha love the K-mart ad! Too cute!

My only backup items I can think of off-hand are the L'Oreal Elnett Satin hairspray, UD's all-nighter setting spray, and Revlon Lip Butter in "Red Velvet." I enjoyed your post - such a good idea!

  37. I have several backups of Milani Mai Tai (bought out CVS when it was on clearance for less than $2) and Milani Sweet Rose, NYC Sunny, a few favorite lip products that are discontinued, Maybelline Dream Smooth Mousse foundation (it's getting hard to find, and most places that do have it don't have my shade [yay for being super fair]), and most importantly: several backups of my Physician's Formula Canyon Classics quad. I use that quad for EVERYTHING! (brows, contour, browbone highlight, blending color, etc.)

  38. Rimmel Match Perfection Blush in Light. It is a total no brainer, natural look for me no matter what lip or eye colors I am wearing. That and Wet N Wild's Walking on Eggshells are my choice on hectic mornings when I don't even know what clothes I am going wear yet.
