New Revlon Finds at Ulta!

Hello friends!
During my last visit to Ulta, I noticed a couple of new Revlon displays! I'm kicking myself that I didn't take pictures of them, but thought I'd give you a heads up here on the blog. The first display was for Revlon Skinlights- that's an older product that is making a comeback! There was also a display with quite a few different blush colors, along with several bronzer/highlighter combos that reminded me of Physician's Formula Shimmer Strips or Bobbi Brown Shimmer Bricks. I picked up a couple of items that I'm trying out, and I'll make sure to review them for you soon! :)
Skinlights are basically a liquid highlight type of product. They've been re-released as part of the "PhotoReady" line, and there are several shades available. I believe there was peach, pink and bronze... and the shade I got which is Bare Light. I struggled to get a good shot of the sheen that this product gives off- but the picture on the right is a partially sheered-out swatch. These Skinlights seem to provide a very subtle glow... they have a pearly finish without flecks of glitter. I could even see these being used as a primer, or as a highlight on top of your makeup look. I chose Bare Light because it seemed to be the most natural and I thought it would mesh well with my skin tone. I plan to do a full review on this once I've had a chance to experiment with it more!
There was a really pretty selection of blushes in a separate display, and many of the colors seemed more vibrant that what Revlon usually has in their line. I opted for one of the brightest shades called Haute Pink to see just how much punch it really had. There is some shimmer in this blush, which I think tones down the overall color payoff. It's definitely a color that I'll use, but it doesn't strike me as anything vastly different from other drugstore blushes. Definitely not as impressive as the Coastal Scents blushes that I showed in this haul video

Just wanted to let you know that those new displays are out there, in case you're interested! Have you run across any other new drugstore products lately? Let me know! :)

  5. Hey Em, I have oily skin and Currently use the CG 3 in 1 foundation. Which you know is SUPER matte,do you think the skinlight mixed with the foundation will give an all around glow? Would love to hear your opinion, as I value what you think. Stay warm and cozy (:

    1. Veronica,

I have oily skin as well and for some reason cannot get on hte CG 3 in 1 foundation bandwagon! I tried it out earlier this year and ended up tossing it, then decided to try it again a couple of weeks ago. What do you use to apply it? I use a Beauty Blender and I feel like it just slides right off my skin, especially around my nose and in between my eyebrows. I want it to work for me!

    2. Hi Hillary,
I usually apply it with my clean fingers. Sometimes I use the ELF flat top powder brush. It keeps my skin matte through a normal 8-9 hour day. I however think it malea me look too matte almost dead looking lol. It is not my favorite foundation, i've only had it for a couple of weeks so I'm stilltrying to make it work for me. I just went through a jar of the Revlon color whipped foundation and I loved it! Great coverage, looks natural on the skin and keeps me matte But not too matte.
Hope I able to help you (:

  10. Years ago, when the original SLs were out, I wore the pink under my foundation for my wedding day - very nice finish, no sparkle, but a beautiful glow that evened my skintone even without the foundation. And my makeup stayed put all day long, so that was a bonus. Glad to see they've been rereleased!

  11. Emily you HAVE to try the elf studio prism eyeshadow- its a 10$ palette with 5 extraordinarily pigmented, 0-fallout, shades
Literally worth every penny, and better than my lancome eyeshadows

  13. Nothing significantly new at the drugstore I found lately, but the revlon skinlight seems like it could be a good primer to achieve glowy look. Thanks for sharing, Em!

  19. I used the skinlights before it was discontinued mixed with my foundation amd always recieved compliments on my skin. It definitely had a way of illuminating and looking fresh faced without looking ridiculous and shiny. I cant tell you how excited I am to have it back.
