Beauty Steals at Big Lots!

Hi everyone!
It's always a good news/bad news situation when you find your favorite beauty products at Big Lots. It's great to see those items at such a low price, but at the same time, you know they're at Big Lots for a reason... they've been phased out of the brand's regular line, and that's why they're in sale mode. On Saturday, I got a tweet from Beauty Broadcast viewer @LindsayGoodrdge about some great things she found at Big Lots...
Thanks for the heads up, Lindsay! Since I was heading out that night to pick up a few things, I figured I'd swing by Big Lots to see what kinds of beauty products were lurking in the aisles. You really need to stop in to Big Lots periodically, because you never know what you'll find.
I also was able to find the Revlon PhotoReady bronzer! WHY would Revlon discontinue this fabulous product?! Maybe they'll just repackage & re-release it. Who knows! What's important is that this bronzer is normally $12 to $13, and it's selling for $3.50 at Big Lots! This was my Emily Award Winner this year for best drugstore bronzer. It combines 4 tones, is entirely matte, and it's great for contouring. Snatch it up!
I also spotted lots of ELF Mechanical Eyelash curlers! This is my favorite kind of lash curler, and while I've been able to find these for $1 at Target (with white handles), some people have told me that their Target stores no longer have them. ELF's website isn't selling them either. So I made sure to pick up an extra. The 5-cent discount isn't huge, but I think it's still a major steal for such a great lash curler.
This is an INSANE deal! I didn't buy one of these since I already have these products, but if you missed out on the Wet n Wild 6-pan palettes-- now is your chance! The palettes in Lust and Greed have been re-packaged along with a couple of liners. I really wished Wet n Wild wouldn't have let these palettes go-- they have the same fabulous pigmentation you would expect from Wet n Wild, and each palette is half matte, half shimmer. And it's only $3.50?!?!

Also at Big Lots- I got a bag of Valentine's Tootsie Pops -- ALL CHERRY. Score! Anyway, thanks to Lindsay for tweeting me about her Big Lots finds, and hopefully you can find these great deals and more at your local stores.

Daily Nuggets...
  • Who else has been watching the Olympics? We had them on for most of the day yesterday. I love watching the figure skating (I used to pretend I was an Olympic figure skater when I was a child- only I was in my roller skates, skating circles in the garage, and my song was Billy Joel's River of Dreams.)
  • I made crock pot Chicken & Dumplins yesterday! DELISH. I use this recipe, and also add frozen corn, peas, and carrots.
  • In case you were wondering about Cupcake's whereabouts, she's on the top shelf of my closet right now.
  • You know what sounds good at the moment? Some sort of slush or frozen lemonade type thing. Or an Orange Julius.

  1. I picked up my Bronzer this weekend at Biglots and had the same reaction Emily! It's a great product. I am trying the Revlon Bronzilla Bronzer now though. I prefer the four tone one. Thanks for the heads up! I may have to check another BigLots tonight!

  4. NOOOO I've been looking for that bronzer everywhere since it was discontinued! Now I'm at school where we don't have a Biglots. I may have to send someone at home to get it for me!

  5. Target has a different Elf eyelash curler now. I wanted a second one to keep in my bag and bought it and it is just not the same!

    1. Because of past reviews, I bought 3 of the ELF eyelash curlers at Biglots. They were horrible!! One of them the rubber was split so it pushed your lashes way down into the pad and then the curling part chopped them off or crimped them. I was mortified. I tried changing the rubber pads on them all, but it didn't help. It still chopped and pulled my eyelashes out. They are now in the trash.

    2. Same thing happened to me! A section of my eyelashes were cut off using the elf eyelash curler (white handle). I had to wear false lashes for a week or two or you could notice...looked ridiculous. Luckily they grew back quickly. I also through the eyelash curler in the trash.

    1. Big Lots is a discount store that sells makeup, food, clothing, home decor items, household goods & furniture. Sometimes the items they have in stock are being discontinued or are overstock from other merchants. Great store!

  16. I found three of the ELF Beauty Books on sale for $2.15 each at my Big Lots, and the pigmentation in the eye-shadows is surprisingly consistent and very good. Another great find: I got ten (10!) of the Milani HD Advanced Lip colors at my local Dollar Tree this week! So keep your eyes out if you're interested in that collection!

  17. I went to Big Lots and got the LAST Revlon bronzer! I am so glad you wrote this post bc I don't go to Big Lots very often and that is my favorite bronzer! Thanks!

  18. About the e.l.f. lash curlers. I e-mailed e.l.f. about why they're no longer on their website, and a rep quickly replied telling me they were going to release new lash curlers. =)

  19. AHH! This post is killing me! We don't have a Big Lots! :/ That elf eye lash curler is seriously my holy grail curler... now I suppose I will need to find another. Suggestions, anyone??

  22. I hope my BL's carries the old eyelash curlers. The new ones DO NOT work. I bought one at Target last week and it did nothing. I bought it since Emily had said that she liked hers...but the new version is B-A-D bad. Seriously...it did noth-ing to my lashes.

  23. Emily! I used to skate circles in my garage too pretending I was a figure skater! Those were the days...

  24. My BL never has any of the good stuff like this :( I've seen people get the WnW stuff, OPI, LE color tattoos, revlon lip butters, and loreal infallible shadows. My BL has pretty much had the same makeup for the last 3 years!

  25. Ran out to Big Lots after reading this and scored :). I didn't grab an eyelash curler, and I'm kicking myself so I'll pass by again tomorrow. But I *did* find a Physicians Formula bronzer (doesn't say matte but looks almost 100% matte to me) for $4, 3 new elf brushes for $.95 each, and the 100 pan Elf Everyday Eyeshadow Palette for $5! I wasn't going to grab the palette because, honestly, I don't need another big palette, but the kicker was that I'd just seen it in another store the night before for $10, haha! And I mean, really, 100 elf shadows for $5? Couldn't resist :). Thanks for the heads-up!

  26. Speaking of Wet n wild. I spotted Blue had me at a hello at Kmart. I don't know why it was discontinued?! They had a big selection of the matte lipsticks. I never see that many at my local Walgreens.

  27. Thank you for this post. I called my Big Lots and they had 2 bronzers left. I didn't want to miss out on the last two so I asked if they could hold them for me and they did. So yes I bought 2 but for the price and quality why not? anyway they didn't have any of the wet n wild products and the prices on the elf products were not as good as some of the quotes in the other comments. I think I will try to check back in a week or so cause they might get discounted. Thanks again for the heads up.

  32. I stopped by the Big Lots in my town today to see if they had the Revlon bronzer, and lo and behold, they did! I went a little nuts and bought multiple, but now that it looks like they've been discontinued I want to make sure I have a backup (or two, haha). Thanks so much for the rec and heads up!

  33. Thanks for the great suggestion! Just bought several bronzers! Mine is almost gone and if been so bummed that they discontinued.

  35. Wow, am I the only person this bronzer looks orange on? I am very fair and tried it a couple times with a light hand but it just looks orange. I normally wear Laura Geller Bronze n Brighten in Fair which has some faint swirls of pink in it and seems much cooler. I guess the Revlon bronzer is too warm for me? Bummed that it didn't work on me, but congrats to all who snatched it up at such a great price! :-)

  36. Just went to Big Lots today and picked up the bronzer and the Wet & Wild eye palette. While I was there I saw an Elf eye palette and also got that. Turned out it was the Little Black Beauty Book in Day!! For $3.00!! I know it was mentioned in a past broadcast and has been hard to find so thought I'd pass it along. Happy shopping!

  38. went to BL today and so happy I found two bronzers randomly laying on the shelf so i bought both. Got an eyelash curler too although never tried the elf one. I also picked up some Sephora nail polish for 1.80 :) Unfortunately the wet n wild sets at my store were all the same and they all had 2 of the "lust" in them. I went ahead and bought one and giving one palette to my daughter but in your pic there are two diff. palettes in the pkg. :( Dangit! Not sure why my store had theres like that.

  50. After reading your post Emily, I went to Big lots and couldn't believe what I found. Amazing cover girl lipsticks for $2 each, Almay foundation for $3.80 ,olay bb cream $5 and much more. I was afraid to buy thinking that was something wrong with the products. But I risked and I tested when I got home, its all fine I guess I'm just not used to amazing products to amazing prices. Thanks girl!;

  51. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find one with Greed in it at my local Big Lots... the only palette from this Limited Edition collection that I have yet to find. What a great buy! I was also able to find the Olay BB cream other are talking about for $5 and I bought 2 of them lol! I'm also going to keep an eye out for the Covergirl lipsticks and Almay foundation.. they all sound like such great finds, and who doesn't love a good deal!?

  53. Problem: HP Printer not connecting to my laptop.

I had an issue while connecting my 2 year old HP printer to my brother's laptop that I had borrowed for starting my own business. I used a quick google search to fix the problem but that did not help me.

I then decided to get professional help to solve my problem. After having received many quotations from various companies, i decided to go ahead with Online Tech Repair (www.onlinetechrepairs.com).

Reasons I chose them over the others:
    1) They were extremely friendly and patient with me during my initial discussions and responded promptly to my request.
    2) Their prices were extremely reasonable.
    3) They were ready and willing to walk me through the entire process step by step and were on call with me till i got it fixed.

    How did they do it
    1) They first asked me to state my problem clearly and asked me a few questions. This was done to detect any physical connectivity issues with the printer.
    2) After having answered this, they confirmed that the printer and the laptop were functioning correctly.
    3) They then, asked me if they could access my laptop remotely to troubleshoot the problem and fix it. I agreed.
    4) One of the tech support executives accessed my laptop and started troubleshooting.
    5) I sat back and watched as the tech support executive was navigating my laptop to spot the issue. The issue was fixed.
    6) I was told that it was due to an older version of the driver that had been installed.

    My Experience
I loved the entire friendly conversation that took place with them. They understood my needs clearly and acted upon the solution immediately. Being a technical noob, i sometimes find it difficult to communicate with tech support teams. It was a very different experience with the guys at Online Tech Repairs. You can check out their website www.onlinetechrepairs.com or call them on 1-914-613-3786.
Would definitely recommend this service to anyone who needs help fixing their computers.
Thanks a ton guys. Great Job....!!
