Another New Chapter!

Hi everyone!
I'm not sure who has or hasn't had a chance to check out my latest YouTube video, and it includes a small element of surprise... so if you like that kind of thing, check it out before you read on! :)

But yeah... huge news for us! Tyler and I have been so excited about this, and we are blown away by the kindness you have expressed in response to our video. I mean, I knew I had some of the nicest viewers ever, but the love you've shared has just really touched us both. There have been so many sweet stories in the comments section about your own motherhood experiences and what the next 6 months will be like for us, and just so much encouragement and positivity. "Thank you" doesn't seem to cut it in this situation... all I can say is that I love and value you SO much. Anytime you share your kindness with me and "let your light shine", as I like to say, it inspires me to do the same. Thank you for letting me into your lives and accepting me and my family with open arms! Oh and I love how people are using the hashtag #babybroadcast -- it's so funny because I didn't even mention it in the video, but my family and I were joking about #babybroadcast after I found out I was pregnant!

I made this little pic to share as a pregnancy announcement along with the video! Had to take a crack at Tyler's height! :) He's 6'6" and I'm 5'0"... it's the first thing most people point out when they see us together! And of course we had to include Miss Cupcake!

So what comes next? I've had so many requests for some pregnancy update vlogs, and I do plan to do those on my vlog channel, BeautyVlogcast. In fact, I think I'll do one this week just getting you all up to speed on our situation- we've got 13 weeks to cover, so there's a lot to share! I thought I could give a little bit of a backstory on our lives & when hopes for a baby came into the picture. What else should I talk about? Symptoms? Cravings? Doctor appointments? When we're finding out if it's a boy or girl? How often do you want to see update vlogs? As you can see, I need your help!! :) I've noticed a lot of people asking how my family reacted when we told them :) Maybe I'll get mom on the phone and re-enact it! haha :) I told her the very MORNING I found out... couldn't hold it in!!

On TheBump.com you can make little pregnancy tickers to show your progress... I thought I'd put mine on here! :) Baby is the size of a peach now, but on Wednesday I'll move on to the next fruit! Not sure how accurate all this size stuff is, but it's entertaining for me to keep track of! :)

 BabyFruit Ticker

Daily Nuggets...
  • Happy St. Patrick's Day!!! Are you wearing green? Tyler tried to pass off turquoise as green today, so therefore, he was pinched.
  • Today's Beauty Broadcast Express video involves a green product & a mini tutorial!
  • Ate a bunch of fresh fruit earlier... there is nothing like juicy pineapple!
  • Mom went to the dentist today (in my hometown- population 1,200 :) and she said everyone in the office knew the big news! Word travels fast- especially in a small town!

  14. I teared up when I saw the video yesterday and again today with this blog expressing your gratitude. Emily, you are my favorite beauty guru not only because of your skill and love of makeup but because you are so authentic. Your inner light shines through in every video you make. And that Tyler! He's charming and funny! I wish you both the very best and now you will be amazing parents!

  17. I have been watching you since you were back in your little apartment, and I always wondered when you and Tyler would become parents - you will be so great at it! I am excited! I have a 6 year old boy and a 2 year old girl. I hope you feel comfortable sharing both the joy AND the difficulties, because parenting is definitely a challenge - and it always helps me when I can share with other parents going through the same things! Even the challenges are wonderful though, because you just adore that little person so very much. Congratulations to you both and best wishes for an easy pregnancy! :)

  21. I've never commented before but I had to say that your smiles on that video were SO big and SO completely genuine it really made my day. You have so much polish and are so put-together and reasonable, which I LOVE about your channel, but it was really fun to have this peek into your heart. Thank you for sharing, Emily, and I am in the crowd wishing you the absolute best.

  28. I wrote yesterday on your video that it was EPIC the way you announced it. I am just so happy for you both!!

As far as posting, I think you should do an update from beginning to now, and then make a new video each week on your bump/progress, any updates, how you are feeling, how your life changes with every week, and just giving your POV on your progress. I love to watch progress videos on pregnancy, and I have never had a child (well, for now anyways).

    Congratulations again!!!!

  29. I honestly was so happy the first time I watched this video. You and Tyler are such amazing, kind people and I know you're going to be wonderful parents. You have always been a role model of mine! :)

As far as baby vlogs?? The MORE the better! I especially love your vlogs, they always make me smile, so any baby vlogs would be great! I'm very curious how you told Tyler the news!!! That's the story I was waiting to hear in the announcement video. :D I would also love to see some "maternity-style" vlogs, aka how you dress to accommodate your growing bun in the oven :) I think that would be really fun!

Again, so happy for you guys, excuse my rambling, love you! <3

  30. I am sooook happy for you! You guys will be incredible parents, and I hope you get to enjoy every minute of your pregnancy!!! I bet you will be a gorgeous, glowing pregnant lady!

  31. I've watched lots of pregnancy update videos from other Youtubers and my suggestion is to either do them every couple week or once every month cause I found that the weekly updates get boring cause not much has changed in the pregnancy. In the videos talk about the symptoms, cravings, updates from doctor's visits, baby hauls, show your belly bump, maybe even have tyler in some videos talking about his perspective on everything going on :)

    ReplyDelete
  32. Congratulations! I saw the title of the video on the facebook link yesterday and I just KNEW it would be an announcement. For a minute there you did have me guessing, though. You did a great job with the suspense! Anyway, I watched the video again today because I wanted to see your joyful faces again! You're going to be amazing parents. Looking forward to the vlogs!!

  33. Congratulations! Very exciting news!

  34. Congratulations! I've been watching and reading along for a couple years now. It felt like one of my friends making the announcement! Hope the rest of the trimesters are as good as the first! Congrats again! Looking forward to hearing more!

  35. I think I commented this on your video but you and I have the same due date and I think that's so awesome. Congratulations to you and Tyler!!! It's so exciting!! It's also funny because I'm 5'3 and my boyfriend is 6'6 so I know the height difference jokes well myself. I'm sure a lot of people have already warned you you're gonna have a big baby? lol

I just adore you and your family and am beyond happy for you! I can't wait to see your #babybroadcast updates!! Much love and hugs!!

  57. Congrats again!!! I knew from the title of your video, it made my day! I'm so happy for you both!

Yes please! Do weekly or bi-weekly pregnancy video updates. Maybe you can also document and include small clips or photos of things that happened that week (food cravings, maternity clothes/outfits/shopping, Dr appointments, thoughts/emotions/reactions, etc) and you will be able to look back at these memories later ;) Any names you and Tyler like so far if it's a girl or a boy?

  62. It's been 20+ years since I had my children but what I do remember from way back then is the morning sickness (ugh), the must have afternoon naps in the first and the last trimesters and the cravings....strawberries, corn on the cob, wendy's frosty and believe it or not kfc mashed potatoes and gravy cuz there were some days I couldnt tolerate textures in foods...oh oh oh and smells...all of sudden smells could be so overwhelming...i couldnt walk down the detergent section of a grocery store...everything was so strong in smell...at the end of all *that* I got my bundles of joy so no complaints

  76. Weekly vlogs would be amazing, if you're up for doing them that often! You could incorporate the new fruit size comparison in each video, as well :) I'm so anxious to see your pregnancy progress and how (if at all) you are having to change up your routines or things you use due to the pregnancy.

Congratulations again on the wonderful news! Sending warm wishes your guys' way.

Bad news for my hubby, though. Because I've got the baby fever bad now!!!! Hahaha :)

  77. A big question I have is if you both have thought about or discussed the baby being broadcast on your channel or social media after it is born?
I know we are ALREADY all dying to see him/her but do you think that would be something too private to openly share?

Also. What gender do both of you want?!?!?

That's what parenting does for you. Congrats also to all the aunts and uncles to be on both sides of the family including the Gehm's :)

  88. Want to share a funny "during the pregnancy" story. Sorry if the english is not correct. The doctor made an ultrasound. In the beginning of the pregnancy they do it internally using a transducer. For hygiene purposes they put on kind of a "condom". The check-up went fine and my baby (now 1 1/2 years old) was perfect. Later the same day at work the phone rang. It was the doctor saying: This might seem strange but I think I forgot a "condom" inside of you! Could you check that out. Otherwise your husband might be suspicous." Well after some "investigation" I found it and the problem was solved. My husband and I laughed soooo much!

  100. Congratulations, Sweetheart!!! I am so HAPPY for the both of you!!! What a beautiful blessing!! Becoming a parent will be a forever changing experience and one that will bring many moments of courage, strength, endurance, love, care, and sacrifice. Many of which, that you will never regret, but will know as the years go by. Being a parent of 3 myself, I have always treasured the moments of teaching them about the world in being kind/loving towards others, helping others, always do your best, and always be honest. When you see your child take what you have taught them then that is such a rewarding moment full of love and appreciation. May God Bless your new arrival and you both as new parents! Remember not every parent is perfect, we try our best sometimes making mistakes, but doing it with much love and sacrifice. Always know that you know your child best and listen to that feeling when something is right or if something is wrong, your intuition will play a big part as the years go by......take lots of pictures of the first moments/experiences, these will be fun to look back on and write them down too!! I am so excited for you, Emily!!! You will be a great mother !!God Bless you both!!

And it is funny because now when we go out for shopping my husband says: and today tell me what Emily wants you to try on??? jejejej good for you guys, all the love and the most wonderful blessings for your beautiful child...maybe a little princess coming? we will see and all your viewers will be more than happy to be with you through this wonderful time in your lives. 105. Hi Emily!
I'm so glad to hear the news! I have been following your videos for a while but this is the first time I actually post something to you. You are so down-to-earth and even after all these years, you haven't left aside drugstore and budget-friendlier options for makeup. Love it!
Just recently I have gone through my 1st pregnancy and I totally understand if you need to slow down or even take a break! The love and support of your true fans will be right here, waiting for you.
Actually, my baby girl is now 9mo and you provide me a little of that much needed "me" time when I get to stop and watch one of your videos. And for that, I give you many thanks :)
One thing I have to share that was and still is so valuable: Babycenter. Their videos and information on baby development are amazing!
I am sending you and all your family all positive and wonderful wishes!

  121. Congrats to you Tyler, Emily, and Cupcake! I was 30 when I had my baby (only had the one:), and she was born in September, so I feel a "kinship" with you:) I didn't have alot of morning sickness, as long as I ate a little something every couple of hours I did just fine. One other thing I wanted to say. I was at the Estee Lauder makeup counter and the lady offered me a job! I have you and a couple of other channels I watch to thank for this! The real kicker is this..I am 54 y/o lol, and to be offered a job doing what I would love to do was such a nice compliment, even though I could not consider it as I live 100 miles away, it was still so nice and a HUGE thankyou goes out to you as I have learned sooomuch from you!! Congrats again Emily you will all make terrific parents!

  122. Congratulations Emily! You and Tyler will make awesome parents! I honestly feel as if a close friend or family member is pregnant, and I wish you the best of luck. Also can't believe you were able to keep this a secret, very sneaky... haha!

  124. The ENTIRE time I was pregnant with my daughter I craved pineapple, regardless of what form it was in. When it was time to pick a paint color, we decided on "Splenda yellow". We must've looked at 20+ shades of yellow . The one we ultimately chose was called "Pineapple Twist". How funny is that?!? I can't wait for you to experience all the joy that comes with this incredibly important job :)

  126. Hi Emily,

    Congrats!
I really enjoy your channels and your blog.
Not to freak you out, but i wanted to mention that in our culture it it said that a pregnant lady shouldn't eat pineapples or papayas.. Im not sure how superstitious you are, but thought u should know. (Years ago, my mom had a miscarriage and she used to eat a lot of pineapples during that time.)
Wish u guys all the very best!

  128. Aww, you two are going to be fantastic parents. My daughter was due September 17 but she waited until September 29 to make her entrance into the world. My baby girl will be 25 this year. Time goes by fast, enjoy every moment. Congratulations!!!

  129. Congratulations! My little girl is 2 and I still remember how excited I was when we found out. I took 5 tests before I made an OB appointment. What to Expect when You're Expecting has an amazing app that similar to the ticker you mentioned tells you the size of your baby, but it also tells you interesting facts about what systems are developing and milestones that your unborn baby is achieving.
