Quick & Simple FOTD- Brightening Tired Eyes!

Hi everyone!!
It feels great to be blogging again! I'm in the process of slowly getting back into all my beauty "stuff", while also enjoying all the fun and challenges that motherhood brings! It really brings tears to my eyes as I look at this picture of me holding Belle in my makeup chair. Technically, she's been my little makeup companion for 9 months... but now this little nugget is in my lap! Still doesn't quite seem real. I love her so much, I can't even explain. What an incredible gift to our lives!

After feeding Belle in the mornings, she tends to take a good long nap, and I have a Pack-n-Play up in the makeup room where she can sleep as I do my makeup! Some people have asked me how or why I'm doing my makeup with this new little baby in my life. My answer is-- I love doing makeup! It never feels like a chore to me. While all things Beauty Broadcast have become my "job", I actually STILL find the act of doing makeup to be quite fun, and frankly, relaxing and therapeutic as well. Having a baby brings SO MANY changes to a person's life. When possible, keeping a little chunk of my morning routine alive makes me feel renewed and refreshed (even when I don't look it!) So yeah... I am blessed to truly love what I do. Thank you for enjoying it along with me!
Today's look was quick, basic, and pretty natural... while still covering up some dark circles and brightening my tired eyes! So I decided to set aside the products I used and snap a few pics for this "Face of the Day" blog post! The face products act to mattify and even out my skin, as well as correct my dark circles, and the eye products come together to create a VERY quick, no-brainer look!
  • Cover Girl Ready, Set Gorgeous Foundation #210 Medium Beige
  • It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under eye Corrector in Medium (yet another great salmon-toned solution for dark spots/dark under eyes!)
  • Physicians Formula Mineral Wear Oh So Radiant! Powder in Creamy Natural
  • Flower Beauty Blush/Bronzer Duo in Gloriously Golden

  • Mally Evercolor Shadow Stick in Dusk (blended all over the lid/crease with Real Techniques Base Shadow Brush)
  • Rimmel ScandalEyes Liner in Nude (to brighten lower inner rim)
  • NYX Two Timer liquid/pencil liner (liquid on top, pencil smudged on outer part of lower lash line)
  • Mally Volumizing Mascara (I was reminded how amazing this mascara is- especially after 2/3 weeks of use!!)
  • Milani Easybrow in Natural Taupe
  • Maybelline Brow Drama Sculpting Brow Mascara in Deep Brown

  •  Hard Candy Plumping Serum Lipstick in Infamous (something new I'm trying... not so sure that it plumps, but it does look pretty & has good staying power)

The biggest keys to looking awake? A couple of the little details that I think absolutely can't be skipped are the salmon-toned concealer to correct your circles, and a nude liner on your lower inner rim. These things might seem like small details, but they make a world of difference. I think those are the can't-miss steps, but adding some color to the face with blush and lipstick definitely polishes up the look! :) Hope this was helpful to anyone running low on sleep and/or time in the mornings!

Daily Nuggets...
  • Belle makes the CUTEST faces/squirmy movements when she wakes up from naps! omg. Somebody should've warned me about the cuteness of that moment.
  • Another random observation... the act of breastfeeding makes me SO THIRSTY. I can't believe how much water I've been taking down lately!
  • Tyler and I shot our "Birth Story" vlog yesterday! It was 45 minutes!!! So when I have a decent chunk of time to sit down and edit, I'll do that! :)
  • Tomorrow there will be a new review on my Express channel! Meanwhile, today I posted a new video on my main channel that I shot a couple weeks ago when I was waiting on Belle! :)
  • Wipe warmer... the kind of item that might seem like an unnecessary luxury where baby stuff is concerned, but it TOTALLY makes a difference when changing a baby! I'm a believer.
  • Warning: If you start eating chewy Sprees, you will have a hard time stopping.

    1. Well, it only makes sense when you think about it.. that moisture has to come from SOMEWHERE lol, not to mention it takes a lot even to MAKE the milk...just keep drinking and remember you guys are providing the VERY best start for your babies, and possibly for future generations, as breastfed babies often turn into breastfeeding mommies (at least now that the formula industry cant fool us into believing they have a superior product like they did to our grandmothers!!) Keep up the good work mommies!

  7. I recently became a grandmama to a beautiful, now 3 mo old granddaughter, Katarina. While I fully know what it is to love your own child from birth to adulthood, you just can't imagine the different kind of love you have for a grandchild. You not only know the extreme love for a baby of your baby, but you experience this extreme pride that your own child blessed you with a new life to love to a different extreme. I just wanted to share this with youI'm a new grand momma of a 3 month old. While I know what it is to love your newborn up to the present time, the love you experience as a grandma

  11. Hi Emily! Love your post! I know what you mean, when you say, "it's hard to explain the love we have for our little ones" I could have eaten my babies all up!! They were delishish!!! I loved smelling them, sleeping with them and kissing them!! (LOL) And now all three of them (boys) are in their late 20's and early 30's.... and well... what can I say... their boys... (lol) neither of them are married, so I am hoping and praying for DIL's so I can have some crafty/beauty bonding fun with. Anyways, you look fantastic and definitely enjoying the blessings that life has given you. I have been following you on YT since the days when you and Tyler were living in your apt. I'm pretty sure a part of me is hoping that one of my boys will find a girl that is all around perfect just like you! Sending you and baby Belle lots and lots of love! ♥

Little Belle will grow faster than you will want her to, so soak up all those sweet precious moments. Just wanted you to know you were missed.

    1. Also, include her in your videos as much as possible, you will love looking back on them, even if its only her in a sling sleeping against your heart as you do your beauty routine :) If you dont have a sling yet, really really look into a moby wrap or ring sling, you will NOT regret it, right now she is in the "sleeps 20 hours a day (though rarely in a row)" newborn phase.. but when she sleeps less and less you will wish for two extra arms, and that is when your sling comes in so handy... and they are dead easy to make, inexpensive to purchase, and if you look around you can support other mothers and other small business people who make them, win win win :) You can even learn to nurse in them hands free, and babies generally ADORE them :). (no, im not trying to sell anything LOL, just loved mine to pieces hehehe, for the record i prefer a ring sling when they are younger as it is very easy to get in and out of (only has to be adjusted very occasionally and doesnt have to be undone except for washing, goes on like a purse when you put the strap over your head, same thing, and there are vids on baby wearing to help) then when the baby is older and heavier, i liked the moby wrap, spreads the weight out more and gives more options for positions for the baby and baby can see different views, plus when they are toddling around you can turn the wrap into a leash and back into a wrap in no time :) Which isnt that handy with a single baby but when the next comes along is a life saver hehe)

  14. She is beautiful! Love this mommy & daughter picture! Makeup is really relaxing, if you enjoy doing it there is problem in taking some time out and applying makeup. One of the reasons I have a makeup blog because I love talking about makeup, and writing reviews and finding new products some how relaxes me. Great post. Can't wait for more pictures of your beautiful daughter. Congrats again! x

  27. I am convinced that the wipe warmer is THE essential baby product!!! And breastfeeding does make you thirsty! I would go thru 2 large glasses while feeding my son! I think it is because you sweat it all out during feeding too. Anyone else sweat a ton while feeding????

  37. Babies are the only people you instantly fall madly in love with without needing to get to know them first. :) I'm so happy for you and Tyler as you begin this new chapter of life with baby Belle. Thanks for sharing it with us! As for cute baby faces, I always got such a chuckle of the faces and grunts they make when working out a BM. Silly of me but they're just too cute!

  38. Fully understand why you're doing makeup. I remember wishing maternity leave started at 3 months with my first. You never get a long break to go watch a movie or something but there's a lot of 10 or 15 minutes that you're just kind of thinking okay, now what. The schedule is so unpredictable this early that it is hard to plan something that needs to get finished but makeup...if she only gives you 5 minutes then 5 minutes it is and no one in the house cares if you have one eye done. This was great and I will def try this on a day the babies haven't slept well.

  39. Well look how cute both you and that beautiful little baby are! You look beautiful. :)

  40. Congrats on your newest little one Emily! So true about applying makeup to be so enjoyable and relaxing. I try to skip a day of wearing makeup just for my skin to breathe but it's so hard to for myself not to put any on... so of course I usually do ;) Could you do a blog post or video on salmon-toned concealers for brightening featuring the different formulas? I know there are so many out there... I have the pixi one but not sure I love the consistency. Just a thought :) xoxo

  43. Breastfeeding in the beginning is crazy. I used to get SO hungry and thirsty that I always had my water bottle and granola bars (or trailmix, crackers, etc) by where I was sitting so that I had it on hand whenever my daughter nursed. It's not like that all the time, but certainly the first few months you are CRAZY thirsty.

  50. Nude eyeliner!! What an amazing suggestion! I have a 6 month old (also Belle Violet (tho Belle is the shortened version of her full name)!!) and so I don't sleep well and have started doing a full face before I brave the outside world. A nude eyeliner will definitely go on my beauty wish list.
Keep up the great work - Very inspiring.
