My "Blossom Bright" Lips for Spring!
Happy Tuesday, everyone!
I'm kicking off the week with some bold lips! This is one of my newest lipstick purchases, as you might have seen in my latest haul video. I only showed a swatch there, and while it was pretty, I don't think it did this product justice. After trying and really enjoying several of the Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Sculpting lipsticks, I decided to try out the "shine" formula. This shade is called Blossom Bright ($30), and I think it's a great spring/summer lip color.
It's a nice watermelon shade, if you know what I mean. It's clearly on the pink side, and while I think these pictures are pretty true-to-color, in warmer lighting I see a bit more red come out in this lipstick. Just a couple of notes on the packaging... I ADORE the magnetic closure. It gives this product such a high quality feel, and from a more practical perspective, there's a pretty low chance of the product busting open in your purse. Also, you'll notice that this lipstick isn't really shaped into a traditional lipstick "point"... the Estee Lauder website calls it "slim shaped to sculpt the curves of your lips." Well, I don't think it's any slimmer than any typical lipstick I own, therefore you are left with the unshaped stick that gives you slightly less precision. Perhaps the shine formula is just trying to set itself apart... but this is an intense color! You might expect something more balm-like or casual compared to a standard lipstick, but Blossom Bright definitely packs a punch.
Overall, this product is all about the color for me. It's absolutely dynamite! I like how I can pair it with a totally casual and natural face of makeup and just let the lips be the star. I have to be a little careful with the application, but honestly, I'm pretty careful with any bright color I put on my lips, regardless of the shape of the lipstick bullet. Much like the regular Pure Color Envy Sculpting lipsticks, I found this to be long wearing and not drying in the least. I put it on first thing in the morning, and my lips were still feeling great after lunch. I didn't find these to be incredibly shiny (if you're looking for a truly glossy lipstick, try Sonia Kashuk's Shine Luxe Sheers), however it did have a nice creamy finish that just made the lips look quite supple and healthy.
As always when it comes to Estee Lauder, thanks to my friend David for guiding me to this particular shade (I was originally thinking about a different one!) His number at Bergdorf Goodman in New York is (212) 872-2777 if you need some assistance! :)
- Happy Cinco de Mayo! I actually wrote this post yesterday, but the nuggets are today :)
- The lil chunk is napping- so I have launched into "accomplish as much as humanly possible" mode.
- Making tacos for dinner tonight, also guacamole :) May even take a stab at making my own salsa if there's time. I've gotten so much good out of my Beaba baby food steamer/food processor for things besides baby food!
- Not sure if I've mentioned this yet, but Belle now has two lower teeth visibly poking through. Sunday evening was ROUGH with teething fussies. Yesterday and today have been much better (knock on wood).
